Hi Guys

After lots of reading and a bit o' procrastination its time to start my first restoration. Despite my research i am going to have a number (potentially a lot!) of questions. What's the feel - best to stick it all under a single thread in "restorations" or create specific threads for each issue.

Since I am here - i haven't seen reference to these anywhere. They are supposed to be generic but as far as i can tell they look identical to the Kat switches except for the labelling. You have to wonder at the quality for the price - but for the price i am going to take a look anyway. (I have originals but they are tired and a backup is handy).

Hi Bill

Assuming this is for a Kat
From my observations, might be best to show the progress of your build in 'restorations' and any questions in the specific area's of technical interest. That way others might get to see answers to technical questions also without needing to trawl through the resto section.

As for the switches you are looking at, the following is what I have noted.
- left switch assembly has clutch lever integrated into it, on original SGP he clutch lever is seperate.
- right switch assembly lights switch has a 3 position style ( Off, Parkers, headlight ). Not sure how this will work on your wiring harness as original units were only a 2 position switch ( Off & On ).

I cannot tell if the multi pin connectors are the correct style, but that could be overcome with Toadboy's Kat-Kit connection set.

But the pice is low, just need to hope the quality is reasonable.

Cheers

Regarding posts: that makes sense - Willdo.
Regarding switches: Well spotted and good to know (would have thought i would have at least noticed the integrated clutch lever). For this money i will take a look anyway even if it ends up in the emergency spares box. My Kat-Kit is on the way.

Hi Bill looking at the Mick Hone website he can supply OEM for under $200 ea. I just got a LH unit from Webike OEM for about $200 delivered to NZ from Japan.

Yes i know. But I'm not after concourse and that value equation doesn't add up for me - so it'll be the originals spruced up or these for 5% the price of those new OEM.

Why not look at other Suzuki models? The ones on my gsx750es are alloy construction and came up a treat when painted. Easy to pull apart and clean up too.

For the price I think they would be ok, if they don't last too long its not much money lost but if they last some time it would be a win, they look ok to me but might need a little tweak with the wiring.
