What am I missing on Facebook?

Aside from trolls, scammers, and pretend friends that is :D

Beginning to wonder if I need to enter the dreaded world of Facebook but not sure what I'm missing, if anything. I get the same impression at work that there's stuff I should be aware of that would help my career as well, but is there really anything on there worth joining for in the Katana world?

A lot of people are using the Marketplace to sell stuff as it’s quick and free. The groups are good if you stand back and watch but you’re correct that there are a lot of trolls and wankers trying to get a bite out of others.

Hi Pete, not on it myself and really don't give a rats about it. Yep, as Ben said there are good points and as many others I know tell me, as long as you are able to stand back and don't get dragged into the negativity and very unpleasant people that infest it like a swamp virus you may survive.

Just my unqualified, no knowledge of the subject opinion based on hearsay.

Cheers.

Hahaha cheers guys... I've tended to think the same Glenn!

I had a feeling there was some interesting stuff for sale on there, but whether that's worth the rest of the crap remains to be seen, although at the same time if there's a community of fellow Kat lovers out there that aren't here, could also be good.

There does tend to be a lot of dross on there. As an ex navy man I belong to a site that is for ex navy people and it is great to chat to like minded people, share photos and memories. These types of sites are ok as the members there tend to weed out the trolls and the admin does a good job of keeping the guys in line. Another site I visit is Pictures of interesting bikes which is great. But I suppose it is to each his own.

There is a Kat community out there for sure and if you keep your circle tight with your privacy settings high there is also alot of good things to find as well. I have found some old friends that I hadn't had contact with for 20 or more years, so there is good with bad, as the others say you just sift through the shit to find your gold.

Cheers
Max

Awww man I gotta join right now then! Watching my own psycho cats is a bit limited compared to the rest of the internet :D

its shit but I fear its become a necessary evil. Many of the old boards have died because of it and plus it doesn't cost to run a group. This is one of the last active ones and even then it's a shadow of days of yore. Facebook is full of dickheads but there are also good things as well. Just have your on bullshit filter set to high and have a laugh at some of the people working on bikes (remember one day you may buy a bike from them........).

Yeah I think I'm gonna maintain the status quo and give it a swerve still... looked at stuff career wise on there and I don't think I'm really missing that much... this forum's showing a bit more life lately so we'll keep kicking it along. This is my favourite spot so I'm 100% happy just hangin' out here or at Power O. I'd rather have real friends anyways :D
