Hi Folks, S.E. Queenslanders mostly but anyone else is welcome - Eric, this means you as well. Quite a few QLD members were not able to attend this years S.O.O. and missed the ride (although some would say they dodged a bullet - rain bullet) so over a few beers a weekend ride for later in the year was talked about and the go kart weekend ride is what came out of it. The ride being proposed for the 25th and 26th of July this year is a ride to Nanango with a session in Go Karts as part of the Saturday fun. The ride would leave from the Samford Caltex servo on Saturday 25th of July at 08:00 heading up to Nanango to the South Burnett Kart Hire track.
The plan is to overnight in Nanango staying at the Fitzroy Hotel. The Fitzroy Hotel has single rooms - $55 and double rooms - $66 available. Meals are available at the pub and a hot breakfast for $10.

If anyone is interested in the day out but can't do the overnight social gathering/drinks/food/Kats and bikes banter Nanango and the Kart track is only a few hours from Brisbane. It's an easy day ride so if anyone is keen and only has the time for the ride with or with driving the wheels off some karts then no problem, join in the ride to Nanango and head back to Brisbane after some lunch if that suits.
There are other places to eat within a couple of minutes walk including the local RSL. The idea for the ride and overnighter is to give us time to enjoy a few drinks and have some fun on the karts with some relax time for meals and catching up with mates. The go kart track is in Nanango and for anyone interested in having a blat or two or three on the karts the cost per person is:
10 minutes = $13
15 minutes = $19
30 minutes = $34.50.
At those prices it is great value compared to a ride at the Ekka!
There is a $2 one off fee per person that provides a membership card to allow access to use the track.
The You Tube clip shows the track however, turn the sound off unless you like to hear the mic picking up the wind. It's not my clip this one was on You Tube.

If you are giving a kart some stick 30 minutes is plenty long enough for one session, take a break and go back for more later. The plan is to spend a few hours at the track or until everyone has had enough trying to be Senna. There is a canteen at the track as well.
If this sounds like something that appeals to you please post a reply here and we'll see if this has wings.
The ride route to Nanango. The Sunday return is flexi with no set route back, we can work that out between us on the Saturday.
