Think l saw a post ages ago about this but after pulling the forks apart to replace the seals l find the original stanchions (hope spellings right) are feeling like sandpaper. Rang precision performance motorcycle parts at Boonah and they have Italian imports for $271.70 each. So called rad hard chrome they quoted $340 for both and two weeks wait but l did have them stripped down and they are straight. $30 more to straighten. So l can wait and have an extra $200 in my pocket. If that helps anyone great. Cheers.

+ 1 on RAD and their work. I have had three sets of different fork tubes ground and re-plated by them as well as a few rear shock shafts. Happy with each job they have done and cheaper than buying replacement parts that may or may not fit.

Cheers.

Thanks fella's, after chatting to Mick Hone I'm going to plate off the anti dive and tidy the units up then put them back on as dummies. Cheers

Swoop,
you know the plates must still allow the oil to flow. If you cap them off so no oil can flow it's as if the anti dive are activated all of the time.

Thanks(is it Ben?). After speaking to Mick l had the impression he and Robbie Phillis just took them off and changed the damping with fork oil weight. Looking at old photos of the Kat he seems to have run it with and without antidive units. Looking at old GSXers without antidive it seems the same setup except antidive. Does the damper rod seat differ between the two that makes the difference or the position of the inlet/outlet on the antidive? Cheers swoop

yeah it's Ben,
I couldn't comment on the difference between the two and I've actually capped the antidive on a Kat with a flat plate but the off the shelf ones have a port that allows the flow of fluid through there.
You could just drop the weight of the oil but I wonder if it then shuts off a chamber that now won't see a flow of oil??

Or use these:

Anti dive vs Braided Lines.JPG

Anti-dive plates from demonspeedracing@gmail.com. Timothy is the owner and operator and makes the best quality Kat anti-dive plates around. The plates are available in clear or black, e-mail Timothy for a price. There are several members here with these plates and everyone is impressed with the quality and look of these plates. Timothy doesn't sell the brake lines in this photo, these are Hel lines from Dean here in Brisbane. For great service and Hel lines Dean is the bloke to see. The photo is to show the difference between OEM anti-dive parts compared to the clean and light weight plates and single brake lines for a Kat.
