Ting ate pipes

I remember when I first got on this forum a bunch of guys were getting a Tingate buy together. I looked at the pic but didn't think they'd suit the Mongrel Kat.
Then I saw Eric's Kat with the short system on it and learnt it's a Tingate too and reasonably priced.
My question is, do Tingate only jig up for group buys or can I buy one off the shelf?
Also, does he have a website (yes I googled it) or do I have to go Old Skool and use my telephone machine?

Ting ate?? Oh well I can't change the title.

Hi Ben, yeah, a few group buy deals have been done with Rod for his Kat Tingate systems which is how we have been able to get them for such a good price. I was speaking with Rod recently and he is flat out with Race Team systems and he said he won't be able build any Kat systems until the work load backs off. He is a one man show and even when he can build Kat systems it is a 6 month wait if all goes well.

He doesn't keep any "stock" Kat systems on the shelf and he prefers to build them for us as a group buy rather than single orders. Rod had not built any of his "stock" Kat systems for nearly 20 years and lucky for us we were able to convince Rod there is still a market for his systems and he agreed to build them pretty much as a favour to us and certainly for mates rates price wise, and patience from the buyer is a must have.

Web site, nar there ain't one.

Rod has said it'll be early next year before he is able to make Kat systems for us unless there is a major change to his projected work load for this year.

Cheers.

Hey Boogieman, I spoke to Rod a while back and enquired on a new system. He was quite busy and couldn't make a 4:1 at the time.
I don't think there is a web site. Years ago, I ordered a system over the phone and was delivered within 2 - 3 weeks.

Hi Ben, not trying to butt in but it looks like Glen and the Chief replied at about the same time.

These days Rod will not make an individual system as his race workload is tremendous, as Glen has said, he has done a couple of bulk orders more as a favor to KA / Glen than anything else.

My 2 cents Ben, I'd talk to Glen before making any other calls, also as Glen says, even if/when he does another run of Kat pipes you will waiting an easy 6 to 12 months for delivery, well worth it in my book :)

Cheers mate

Tranzac will make you a nice pipe exactly how you want it... I like the sound of the Tingate but not real sure on the exit near the pillion peg... I also like that the headers are held with springs instead of bolted directly to the head as well...

My earlier post should have read 2 -3 months delivery not 2 - 3 weeks.
Any SKA member interested in a Tingate 4:1 system ...perhaps arrange a future bulk order ??

There are definitely plenty of options out there... and yeah Dave's Kerker on the K-Fac headers did sound good!

I like the blurb on the CSR full system though:

Boiling-hot! " At that time / "bring back!
Steel exhaust pipe (plastic model) is 42.. 3D vendors at thick 7 power
Turn in a beautiful Line of hand Bent, to 70 mm in diameter thick Tail Pipe
A Style reminiscent of the 70's Racer tubes and Sound
Reminds us that when the gentle.

Looks like a nice set of pipes though, especially the curve on those headers...

Thinking out loud here,
Paull11 do you still have that Vance and Hines Sidewinder? and how loud was it?
This would give the Chair more ground clearance if it fits.

Then maybe Boogieman or Pete or someone else wants to buy/trade this new 4 into 1 Tranzac system. which will fit a KAT with a tweak of the muffler bracket..

Assuming it all fit each bike and were all happy

Sold the V & H to someone up in Cairns a while back, it was f$%k off loud. And everybody knew you were coming 5 miles away :D. Here's a pic of it on my 7/11 before I put the Yoshi on.

Liked the sound, even though it hung pretty low, I scape it on quite a few twisties, on my first couple of Power O's. Big problem on the V&H was from the header up to the exhaust outlets, the chrome went to shit in no time flat after only 1-2 short stints in the rain. Which kinda tells me it is probably more Ying & Yang that Vance & Hines.

Cheers

They also make a megaphone exhaust that is longer than this (and no doubtably quieter) as this is the Drag pipe version. Definitely agree on the shit finish on the chrome headers - no doubt its spray on chrome. Never even rode mine in the wet and was significantly degraded after ~2000kms. Always garaged and cleaned. The megaphone sounds bloody unreal too. Nige had his re-coated before use and was pretty happy with it for the price (at the time aussie dollar was high and the V&H pipes were V cheap!! Aslo compatible with centre stand and dont need to remove for oil change.

Go the K-fac if you want to keep it a little like a standard look. I have been happy so far with VH and as Rusty says sounds great. But shit chrome coating. ceramic coating has held up ok so far but starting to go in the depths of the collector (like all but stainless). Transacs are not bad systems. I wonder if they still make the old Formula 1's ?

Iam sure Mick at transzac would make any thing you want.(like it didnt seem that busy when I was there.)

So with the V&H gone I am inclined to leave it for now, got some more fundamental things to worry about first. (like gears or the lack of)

I bought my first Kat in 1986 which came with a Megacycle 4-1. Which back in the day was supposed to a pretty decent system. Along with the Ting's & Tranz

http://www.megacycle.com.au/

I see on-line they are still in business, but have no recent experience with them and or if it one in the same ?

Cheers
