Hey all,

As you're (hopefully) aware, running the forum isn't a free endeavour and there are hosting fees, domain registration fees, and forum software fees that all currently end up sitting on Frankie's credit card.

I know some of you have already thrown some dollars his way but for those (like me) who haven't yet, here's your curtain call to help out. On the left side of the main forum page you'll see the begging man looking for some donations which is via PayPal. Please go there and throw what you can Frankie's way.

What's in it for me I hear you ask? Well, for now it means the forum stays up and running, but I'll see if I can figure out a way to give those who donate a little bit of a status change on here as well.

Please help save Frankie's credit card from more abuse!

Hi Pete, thanks for the post and explaining the cost involved in keeping the Forum running for those that may not be aware there is a price to pay for our great platform. My donation is on the way.

Cheers mate.

Hi Pete, just clicked on the begging man on the Forum Home Page to make the donation. I must be missing something here, the page wont let me change the amount from AUD $0.00 to the amount I wish to donate. Have also tried the "Send and Receive" function and no joy there. Can you post a follow the bouncing ball instruction on how to make the donation please?

Cheers.

Hmmm working fine for me Glen. All I do is click the begging dude which takes me to the PayPal.me page for Frankie, then I click on the big $0.00 which puts a flashing cursor at the end of the amount. You can then type whatever amount you want in. Note you won't be able to delete or backspace the zeros that are there, you just type in the numbers you want.

And of course thanks for jumping on to it so quick!

Thanks Pete for posting this up. Yes we really need your help in keeping this forum uip and running. Yes I do hear some people from modern social media saying that ditch the forum as the modern social media platform is the go. The forum will stay as long as we are united as one. Yes modern social media such as FaceBook is simple and easy but we will never own it. Your infomation is exposed to to all craps advertising and you don't even own the photos you post up. Old school forum like this have more privacy and especially our forum here are stacked with tonnes of technical knowledge from members who are genuinely skilled and knowlegable. So we sincerely hope everyone can support this forum by donation to keep it running. Even a some amount could make a difference and help this form.

I sincerely thank our friends who have donated to this forum:

Thomas Whiteoak
Stuart Pope
Stephen Clark
Patrick McCreanor

Thanks guys! I'm working out a way to reflect those who contribute at the moment, hopefully have some way to show that this week.

I need to echo what Frankie says above about who owns the content.

Farcebook want to know everything about what you do so they can market your data, same with Google and any of those other big conglomerates. Anything you post on Farcebook belongs to them in some way, they don't store it for the benefit of you, they store it for the benefit of them. That's why it's "free", because it's not really free at all.

This forum is 100% here for the benefit of all of us, we own this data, and it's here for us, and us only which is why we do our best to keep the spammers and other malicious type activity away.

Social media might make it really easy to post photos and other content up there, but try and find a really helpful technical post in 12 months time and see how easy it isn't ;)

Anyway, enough of a rant from me!

Ok so you'll now see an extra title "Forum Supporter" added to those who do the deed. I'm not sure of the screen names for Stuart Pope or Stephen Clark are though to fix those ones up :)

soooo... I do not have Paypal.
Is there another option for us living in the coal and steam age to make a donation.
I can hook Bessy up to the cart and pop on by and hand deliver something.
Cheers Andrew.

Hi guys,

I would like to thank you for the countless hours and unrecognized work you do to keep this place up and running, as someone who has been in your position I know and appreciate what it takes.

As for keeping this place open I totally agree with Frankie about facebook, there is knowledge in this forum that is irreplaceable and I for one would hate to lose it.

Is there a way that we could arrange for a regular donation to be made so that we can "drip feed" Frankies card on an ongoing basis ? I for 1 would be happy for a monthly, bi-monthly donation to be made.

Luv your work guys, keep it up and see you at the 40th, or for some of you unlucky ones maybe earlier.

Cheers

No problems at all guys, I'm happy to do what it takes to keep the forum going, and Frankie takes care of plenty of stuff I can't and we wouldn't have it at all if it wasn't for him, so cheers Frankie!

Andrew I'm not sure on a PayPal alternative, Frankie will need to cover that one off I think.

Stuart, doing a regular donation drive is definitely on my mind because I completely forgot about it this year myself. I'm thinking quarterly would probably work best as it's frequent but not too demanding. We're having a chat about all things forum next week so we'll let you know.

Cheers, Pete
