Seeing some of the other blogs made me think I've always wanted to set out why I have bought the bikes I have and other assorted useless information in one place so I can remind myself there is some reason behind the insanity. Plus I read in the toilet at a cafe in Kenilworth on the weekend that a hobby and obsession are closely related so the need for self justification has emerged.......
Anyway for what it's worth there are now 53 bikes and 1 quad bike in the garage. I originally started out wanting to restore a bike as a prelude to doing a car. Then I enjoyed doing the bike so much (a Suzuki GT380) that I started on another one (a Kawasaki G7) and have kept going (10 at last count). Then I thought that it would be cool to have bikes with different engine configurations cause the thinking behind the engineering and packaging is often quite amazing. Then I started to imagine holes in the possible sets. Then came the idea that street versions of bikes that ran in the castrol six hour would be cool (the bikes that ran were too expensive). Then the enabler to all this which was I got the shits with my self managed super going down the toilet and decided that a tangible asset was better than shitty stocks being manipulated each day by richer people than me. So off I went and 4 years later the rate of accumulation has slowed and some bikes have gone (3 actually) but I still love looking at the photos on my desk each day (I have a photo of each one stick around my workspace as well as the kids the my lovely other half).
So there are two Kats a 7fiddy and a WW 1100. Besides these two there are 2 Aprilias (an RS250 and a RSV Mille), 7 Ducatis, 13 Kawasakis, a Laverda 750S Carenata, 12 Yamahas, 1 Guzzi, 10 Hondas, 2 BMWs and 3 other Suzukis. The oldest is a 1963 Honda C92, the yougest is a 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale S. When I get time I'll put up some pics and details on each one to bore you senseless and share the sickness.
