Suzuki GSX1100S Katana essential guide - UK Values

I picked up an English bike magazine yesterday as it had a 1100SD in red / silver on the front cover.

The article inside I found interesting reading and has a number of images of the design evolution phase and a picture of a full size clay model of the 1100.

There is some 8 pages of information including current UK values and given the interest on the old forum on the sale value in Australia I list below what they listed for the UK:

Mint: UKP7000 - 10000 (A$12774 - A$18249)
Clean: UKP4000 - 7000 (A$7299 - A$12774)
Tatty: UKP2000 - 3500 (A$3649 - A$6387)
Hound: UKP1500- 2000 (A$2737 - A$3649)

The article went on to cover items to check when buying with issues and problems as well as some replacement parts pricing in the UK with useful contacts which included Grumpy 1260 who I recall was mentioned on the old forum.

To me it was worth the dollars just for the read.

Thanks Tom, sounds like some good info there, I'll see if my local has it.

Puts my Kat in the 'Hound' range when I bought it, which it certainly was. :)

Thanks Tom. I'm going to try and hunt for that one. It's hard to believe my hound bike is worth that much.

Thanks Tom. I'm curious on the exchange rate you used cause my bank tells me the aud peso is worth about 55p. That may change your ranges quite a bit. But the again the poms seem to overvalue old stuff, probably cause hey live in the past dreaming of days of empire.......land of hope and glory blah blah

Hi pkay

I found a conversion tool / program in Windows 8 last night. It may or may not be the best rate but gives an indication of the Australian dollar value.

Good point of about the poms "probably cause hey live in the past dreaming of days of empire.......land of hope and glory blah blah" as it sounds like my father in-law.

It's as if other Kats such as 750s etc were never made or don't exist. You only ever see articles about 1100s.

At least GT380s and 550s get a run sometimes.

There too scared to write about the 750S due to it having the almighty Blue Seat and being so rare they have almost been forgotten about - Maybe the value they hold due to this rarity is to risky to print......Then everyone would be trading in there SZXs for one - Ahh haa haa haa haa  "enter Toadboy's thumbs up here"

The 750 was not a big volume seller in Australia because for a few dollars more you could buy the 1100 and in most cases people who wanted to own a Kat wanted one for the looks and the power. And of course the blue seat just looked soo wrong.

Cheers.

Sorry did someone say blah blah blah........

And a 7-Fiddy owner chimes in with words of wisdom! Or just words................sort of words really.

Easy mate......There was only two of them (blue seats - i think...theres a few 750S getting about though) on the old forum, and one of those hasn't made it here yet..Ive got no backup..

It was actually a gift to those with girls who wanted to ride with them all the time - one flick of the wrist and shes a gonna - that vinyl isn't the grippiest stuff out (plus with the added slip of a bit of armour all shell be gone before you know it....)

Hey Rusty, I have a theory about slippery blue vinyl seats, chicks on the back and lack of seat grip. Nar, it's just a theory so not worth mentioning really.

Cheers mate.

Blah blah blah...... Blue seat, blah blah blah. Sorry this is about coherent as a 7fiddy owner gets........ Comes for sniffing all that armourall used in cleaning the seat. Now imagine how rare this makes a 7fiddy, and imagine if I put a rare 4-1 on it with rare ugly mirrors and then put it up for sale, because it was rare I'd make a fortune, not like these common everyday 1100 thingies........ Oh shit there's one of them out there somewhere as well, told you they were like arseholes, everyone has got one.

Sorry too much carb cleaner sniffing.

Hey Hippy "You wanna buy a watch"....Nah....I'll just have a half of what Paul 's on....common ya gotta share!.....Life's too straight without twisties:cool:

My original (long gone) Australian delivered 750 had the blue vinyl seat but my current 82 Japanese spec bike has the two tone suede/shark skin seat. Best of both worlds!:D

Never liked 0,75 l bottles of vine....0,5 is min requirement for woman.....1 liter is a usual amount for man...0,75 is for fancy people....cant stand a drink as a man :) but they do not have all qualities to be a woman....
