Any appetite for dates regards 2025 SoO - seems roaches are keen to (purple) rinse and repeat Walcha?

I’m tentative at the moment, budget constraints, would love to go if that gets resolved in time. Walcha was great last year (especially the Oxley), but perhaps not the caravan park…

Not mobile but back in the day we used to stay at a place called mt sea view on the Oxley when doing coach tours. Nice place. While at the bar one night we had a coach of Canadian school kids and about 9pm they came running in grinning ear to ear, l said what have you been up to? Oh cow tipping they laughed? Cows sleep standing up and they sneak up and push them over 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Those that were there last year, agreed on 24th October...

but that was a little one-sided...

Ah bugger, I'm pretty sure I'll be in Sydney for an event on the Thursday that week, so definitely won't get back in time for a ride to Walcha as I'd likely fly home on the Friday.

Hi, is this ride to Walcha for anyone to join ? Motel ? I think I've got time off from my busy retirement.
Yeah if you're keen to join you're welcome! I'm not sure who's actually organising this year to confirm details etc. but keep an eye on this thread. If you're on Facebook I believe there's a group on there you can join as well, @drillit can point you in the right direction there as I'm not on Facebook at all.

Hi, thanks for that. I’ve never been on TwitFace so don’t know its workings. I’ll check on here as the dates approach. Anyone know the accommodation arrangements? I’ll probably stay at a Motel on the main street if that suits. Still plenty of time yet though. We’ve had some -2* mornings here recently. Katanas don’t seem to like cold weather. Do others have cold blooded Kats ? She runs sweet as once warm.

The event is a Suzuki Katana Australia event and this year is being coordinated by Geoff Majer - screen shot of the FB Event below:

Maybe fly to Tamworth instead, I could pick U up. Ride from Narrabri.

So come on, what's the go? Who turned up, how was the Saturday ride, and where are the photos?

Great weekend, great catch up. The Long Flat and return ride was awesome. A couple of NSW riders had electrical problems ..... reg/rec or battery, or both. Another had his muffler fall off, but all in all another SoO success story. Looking forward to next year.

I fell 100kms short guys due to either an alternator or regulator problem. So while everyone was having dinner (& drinks) Friday night I was loading the old girl into a ute in the dark 40kms from Gloucster. I'll make it next year!
Just as a postscript. This event demonstrated the wisdom of riding with mates even in relative civilization. When the fire went out a couple of them came back to check on me and once we determined it was unlikely to be fixed we all found there was no phone service. They had to go 10-15kms up the hill to get some and organise my rescue then come back to tell me. Thanks to Stuart & Geoff. Back towards Gloucster it was a 20K trip to get service so there are still plenty of "black holes" even on the East Coast.

You raise a good point.

It's a good idea to run stock battery box, reg rec wiring etc. - that way you can swap out a spare. I learned this lesson the hard way.

Also it's best to run a visible volt meter that way at least you have a chance.

It's also good form to make sure that the 3rd stator phase doesn't still run through RHS handlebar cluster - that way you can switch off the lights if you input voltage is low.
