Hi Folks, for motorcycle fans GOMA in Brisbane is currently running an exhibition devoted to the motorcycle, this article from Brisbane Times gives an overview of what it is about.

https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/cu...et-my-young-heart-racing-20201223-p56ps0.html

Plenty to see including a very tidy Kat, the Britten and 98 other machines.

Some of the crew have already been to the exhibition however, we are planning a ride to include going to the show when the crowds have thinned out a bit after Christmas, New Years and QLD School Holidays. Make this a Katana ride soooo, with that in mind, dust off the Kat if it has been idle over the holidays are let's see you and your Kat (if you don't have a Kat, a McIntosh Bathurst Special is a suitable alternative for the ride) on Saturday 6th of Feb for a Kat day out and see an exhibition dedicated to the motorcycle!

Meet-up is the Mt Coot-Tha Botanic Gardens at 09:30 Saturday 6th Feb 2021.

Meeting point is the car-park opposite the Botanic Gardens entry on Mt Coot-Tha Rd.

After the exhibition it's off to a cafe for lunch for anyone with time to spare and wanting to Kat-ch up with mates.

For those who wish to rock up for the ride could you please post here so we can see the number of Kats that are planning to attend as we are going to attempt to see if group parking and admission at mates rates can be arranged. Not promising it can, but we'll give it a go.

Derek is going to post the ride details on the Katana Australia Facebook page as there are a few Brisbane Kat owners on Facebook that are not on the forum, ya can never have too many Kats on a ride!

Hope to see a good turn-out on the day and we can enjoy all things real Katana.

Cheers,
Glen.

I'm keen as mustard to get to the show and we should definitely organise a parade of Kats for the day.

There are a heap of free motorcycle parks handy from what I can ascertain by Mr Google also.

I got tickets as a Christmas present, I so will have seen it by then.

So in for the meet up, ride and lunch, GOMA will depend on weather I think its worth seeing again...

Cheers John

Paul

Hi Paul, you'll be right 10 days is plenty of time, duct tape and painkillers will sort out the shoulder.

Cheers mate.

Plus, Derek can teach you how to ride in one gear and you'll only need to touch your clutch when you stop and start ;)

......that's nuttink.

Chairman can teach you how to pull off and stop with a sidecar and no clutch cable.........

Hi Glenn, just got on site haven't had much of a look this year so far. Pity that other thing we discussed didn't work out. If the gates are open at the gardens (I've done this many times) you can ride in and around the circuit to the lookout at the top of the rainforest section where there is a carpark overlooking the views of the city. Might make a nice photo shoot but probably overcomplicating things a bit though. Tried to download a map but ran out of patience. I'm a definite too thanks.

Hi John, no worries, we'll go with the flow on this one, hearding Kats, sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. See ya at the carpark.

Cheers,
Glen.

That actually sounds pretty good to me John. Just had a scroll around Google Maps street view and definitely worth it if we can fit it in time wise.

Actually scrap that, vehicle access isn't allowed on the weekends (from their site):

Vehicle access

Vehicle access in the gardens is not permitted on weekends, public holidays and from 4pm on weekdays. Visitors can ride bikes on the ring road and road to the Australian Plant Communities area only. For the safety of other pedestrians, skateboards and scooters are not permitted.

Thanks Pete, probably to much traffic on weekends, maybe another day then. Or we could Mad Max the gates and go for it! Okay bit silly, on a tangent there is a bike builder coffee shop in fortitude valley if he's still in business, just a thought or we could have a sausage sizzle at my joint, just a thought.:D.

Paul you're alive! Be great to have you along for a change :D

Mad Max it sounds like a plan to me John! Fortitude Valley, that'd be Smoked Garage yeah? Never been in there but I used to work around the corner before we moved offices. Some of their builds looked pretty cool when wandering past though.

Cafe after GOMA has been sorted, 3 minute ride from GOMA. Free bike parks available in front of cafe with parking available over the road if we need the extra bays. Cafe closes at 2:30 on a Saturday so we have plenty of time.

See ya all on the 6th at the Gardens car park.
