Roadside assist for motorcycles.

With the upcoming Nambucca Heads ride...."1600 return km" for me..
and not knowing the new kat as well as the old one.

Do you think something like RACQ Ultimate road assist @ $250 odd would be worth looking into?
From what I can gather,it covers all vehicles that I drive/ride.

I know John used Vals membership on last years SOO run to good use.

Who has it and have you used it before?

Well it was good for me, $600 odd worth of towing, nothing more to pay..
From ballina to home is just over 200K.

I wouldnt expect them to fix anything beside the road, guy was hardly a mechanical genius. It was a long wait for 1 bloke to show up and n say its rooted, then wait again for the tilt tray to come.

But we did have a choice between the tow home, and a hire car and motel.

That said I could have left it were it was and walked and caught the bus/train and eventually got home. then gone back with the trailer to recover (if it was still there). I doubt there would be much change from $250.. definitely wouldnt have shown up at nambucca...
The other thing was the fairer sex was somewhat comforted knowing that help was coming. There was no crying ,wailing, screaming or general flaying, flogging and disemboweling, cause I`m a apparent idiot. (its still my fault)

Covers vehicles your driving, you can also nominate a vehicle your not driving. Thats how we worked the sidecar.

My KAT wont be covered this trip cause Val wont be with me. (I assume the group will stop to help... right?)

good piece of mind Dave..

Cheers John

I had it when I used to drive stupid distances for work many years. While I never needed to use it I wouldn't have felt quite as confident heading out to places like Goondoowindi, so if your budget allows it I would highly recommend it.

The good thing for me was the mutiple vehicles so not only was the car covered but I also had the bike covered.

Yup, I have this cover Dave.

As you say, it covers all vehicles you drive/ride (are in or on ;)) and you can nominate another single car/bike that anyone can drive.
Plus all the usual, hire care, motel, 200k's to your place or nearest repairer for towing etc.

Well worth a look, not sure how far RACQ venture into NSW's though ?

Cheers

My Bike is insured with NRMA classic bike insurance. It has free towing home if you are more than 100km away from home, plus other benefits like motels and stuff.

Hey land shark how much does that cost if you don't mind me asking , also looking for something for my bikes

Cheers
Max

RACQ has an agreement with NRMA etc. so you're covered nation wide as far as I'm aware...

Thanks for the advise men.

Haven't decided which way to go as yet.
My main concern is that if it does shit itself miles from home...what would you do?
As John mentioned it wouldn't be there when you got back....

There's no doubt that fellow members would help out in this situation...but not much help north of Brisbane.

Anyway I have great faith in the mach, so probably worrying about nothing.

Hi Max,
My bike is a GS1000G. I'm just an interested spectator here in the KAT lands.
But, its about 300 a year for comprehensive and agreed Value of 5K. Covers about 3k a year of roadside extras besides the towing(motels, rental cars, etc), but only about $500 worth of gear(jacket, helmet and stuff).
Its not on club rego, and i told them it does about 9000km a year.
$300 excess.

I think i have all those facts correct, hope that helps.
