Anyone know if I can substitute a rear m/cylinder rebuild kit (read as cheap off ebay such as a whole master cylinder also) for my pop up. I have stripped and cleaned the unit but cannot make pressure. I even bought a vacuum unit to suck the fluid through to no avail. I have reasonable confidence I just need the inner rubber boot, but have no idead if the internal size is similar to other types. There is a whole gsxr unit available for $15, this is only an option for the internals as the rod and bolt hole measurements differ. Thoughts or facts most welcome.

Dont go cheap for ya brakes Nick. You can make any master fit your bike but buying second hand ( thats what im understanding is what you are saying ?) will possibly have the same problem. Surely a genuine master cylinder kit is pretty cheap from Mick Hone.

Hi, i was this of swapping ebay item new item 171911367679 internals as the price is competitive. The mounting holes do not line up and the connection is too short for my popup.

100% with Nige on this. Don't cut corners with brakes and the genuine masters will work as advertised for 20 years when looked after compared to most of the cheap aftermarket items.

Hi, the health and safety crew have me cornered. I have ordered the kit for $35 from the local dealer. Ta all.

Nick,
As others have said preferd option is to rebuild original with new parts it will last at least 30 years plus.
you will need;
69691-45001 BOOT,RR MASTER CYLINDER 1
59667-49460 DIAPHRAGM,MASTER CYLINDER
69600-34810 MASTER CYLINDER KIT,REAR
69686-34200 O RING,BRAKE FLUID CONNECTOR

Total cost $60ish including $12 express post and all in stock at Mick Hones.

Now my bike never came with a Master cylinder, Your Gsx Idea was sound but you should have went with something DR
Maybe you can reuse the original pushrod ? mounting plate for the holes?

But in the end I used a one from a chinese dirt bike this has been working fine for 3 years now
such as http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rear-Bra...968080?hash=item1a16850d10:g:ntwAAOSwuzRXehVa
Would have the right dimensions to bolt on and 10mm piston gives good pressure and nice feel at the expense of a little more pedal travel.

But be warned, I am a tinny bastard when it comes to the chinese ebay quality lottery...

Cheers John

Cheers for that, I was looking for that set up with similar hole distance for a straight swap, but never found it. I have a cup set on order (69600-34810) and I think that is sufficient. Ta

Just to finish this, I reckon the original cup set I refurbed was ok (polished with a dremel). While I have fitted the new cup set, I think I could not get good pressure previously due to the rusty bleed nipples. I replaced this with a choice shiny chinese version.
