Out on a ride today with another group, was on the eruotrash playing cat and mouse with one of the boys on a Harley (he was scraping the foot boards on both sides with his stereo loud enough I could listen to it as well. Was a great day with some great blokes until tradgedy struck about 20-30ks from the top when one bloke pushed a bit to hard into some twisties missed a line and went hard into the barrier, unfortunately that was as far as he goes RIP. was an extremely sad ending to what was up to then a great day. I was having a chat to him only 1/2 an hour earlier at the Grey Gums cafe, he used to do track days and really enjoyed motorcycling, sadly he leaves behind a wife and three kids. A very sobering finish with some reflections of what could have been and the importance of staying focussed and staying within your own abilities, was a long slow ride home with a couple of the boys that knew him finding it really hard.
The emergency services and police could not have been more professional in there approach to the situation and all involved. Serves as a timely reminder of how easily and quickly things can go wrong. First thing thing I did when I got home was give the misses and little fella a great big hug.
Stay safe out the guys.
RIP VTR guy
Cheers
