Hi all,
Firstly, thank you so much for your kind words and thoughts, and also thanks to Nick and Frankie for the phone calls this morning. The bond that these machines has created amongst us is truly quite amazing and I'm stoked to be part of it...
I'm feeling pretty bloody sore, can barely walk around, but no broken bones (apparently; not sure about my wrist) and Pete actually went to work today and was feeling ok this morning, but was starting feel quite down around lunch time today. I'm taking the week off; purely because I can.
As Nick said, my bike is a total loss financially, there are some goodies on there that we want to try and recover, and Pete's will run close to be financially written off in my opinion but I don't think he will let that happen.
Ironically, it was the slowest ride day we have had together. It was freezing cold, I mean below zero as we encountered ice on the road in places. As we were heading down to Marysville, it happened. I was the lead bike and we came around a slow left to be confronted with a BMW on my side of the road coming towards me at about 60km/h or so and within literally a split second, I hit him dead centre; bounced off the bonnet onto the road Pete followed in and got his right headlight and high sided over to the left. That vision and sound just wont leave me; very early in the process I guess.
I have loads of photos, but I wont put too many on here. For me anyway, they are a bit confronting.
As some of you know, I got my bike recently painted and seat done, chain, sprockets etc... all finished last weekend. So with my decent camera; this is what she looked like yesterday morning. What follows is the aftermath...
My dream has been taken away from me..
