New Katana....TURBO!!! Thoughts

Hmmmmm - I reckon it needs to be a bit more impressive than that to revive the mighty Katana name..... id take a Gixxer...

The Katana was the historical equivalent of the Hyabusa in the Suzuki lineup - the most powerful, out there stylish, most technologically advanced etc etc, not a smaller version of the flagship with less power....

I've been watching this since beginning of year, there have been a few bits of info in Aust Motorcycle News.

I am taking a slightly different view from above and hoping it does come to bear. However I am reserving full judgement till / if it does as the final result could be vastly different from the mock ups and prototypes.

For instance the latest is that it won't have a stacked headlight, but a split dual set with a central air intake for the InterCooler. Also the water pump is possibly electric thus no drag on the motor and the speed can be altered independent of engine speed, and have a run-on feature after engine has stopped to cool the turbo.

Wheat her it gets the Katana name we'll have to see, but I am interested in case that did not come across that way :cool:
 
By all means bring back the Katana and yes have the bike more improved in chassis and engine etc and keep the same concept as an in line four 1100 or 1000 turbo or not but not in this concept. Release this new model but not under the Katana name.

..The "KATANA" name has been tarnished enough through it being used on everything and anything over the years from pissy little scooters through the sports bike range sold in the good old US of A , even a version of the baby 4x4 Jiminy sold in Asia.....I would like the name saved and only used on something that is instantly recognisable as a bloody KATANA and preferably a BIG sports bike with all the fruit and big kahoonas...I'm bloody proud to say yea it's a KATANA and yes they were/ (are ) a MAN BIKE.....not some tissied up version of another Suzuki model...They can get stuffed, I want my KATANA to be worthy of being called a KATANA in looks ,style,performance and BLOODY STREET CRED!!!

Yep, says it for me ....!

I'd own one if it landed on my doorstep but its not a Katana !!!
 
Yep I think the one I just posted is More Katana Like.... Maybe my next project will be a modern Katana.....
 
Oh Poo a customer....haha.... I best get to work. I think that maybe a GSX1100 would be a good base for such a project..... hear that grinding noise...... that's the cogs in my head!
 
I may have access to a 3d printer..... however, a handformed set of fairings may be easier to program.... 5 jim beams and a Sambuca...lol
