Hi All,
Well I attended the unveiling of the new 2018 Katana in Cowes on Phillip Island last night. So following are some photos from that event.
I've also just this morning returned from the racetrack where the MotoGP is getting underway and have also added a few photos of the Kat at the Suzuki stand in the Expo tent. The lighting was a lot better at the trade stand!
First group of photos are of the Thursday night unveiling event, with the bike in the centre of the room, under a black and white chequered flag with lots of people milling about. Security was there to stop anyone touching the bike.

As you can see I picked up a Suzuki brochure for the new Kat, so there are a few pages from that reproduced above.
So Friday morning, I went to the track, damn well drizzled rain on me and my nice clean alloy bodied Kat!! Not Happy but I moved on. Here are a few images of the bike in the Expo pavilion at the racetrack.

Thought that imaged needed to be by itself.

Suzuki specs from the stand near the bike. No price yet. The marketing guy on Thursday night, when asked was not really forthcoming. He seemed to waffle on indicating maybe a bit over $20,000. However, get this, first 50 customers get the special helmet, also shown in various photos.

So there you have it! Any questions about the event or the bike after seeing it 'in the flesh' as it were, I'll try to answer.
Just as an aside. I had my wire-wheel Kat out and about yesterday (Thursday). I stopped in Cowes in the afternoon to buy a local paper and fill the bike up. At the newsagent, when I came out to ride home there were about 5 or 6 guys milling around the bike. After nearly 30 mins or so of answering questions and photos being taken I was able to ride home, never had so much interest!
Later that night I was returning from the unveiling and stopped to buy a pizza, while waiting for it, a guy walking past came into the pizza shop asking who owned the beyootiful Kat outside. Turns out he has a 1 owner SD 1000 with about 10,000km on it. Lovely!!
Today I had to go into Cowes, this time on the SD Kat, same thing happened. There were about half a dozen guys clustered around it wanting to ask questions about the body work etc.
Made me wonder if the new Kat will ever have that drawing power. Mmmm??
Cheers
Rob
