Mirrors

Dropped the Kat yesterday (GRRRRR). My fault, pulled up and didn't push the stand down far enough and it flipped back up and away she went. I couldnt even ease it down as it took me buy surprise with a quick thump. Sort of lucky as it landed on a 6" raised drain/inspection cap so the whole bike bar the stator case was off the ground so I could get under it quick smart to lift it up. Scratched the casing and sticker but demolished the left mirror oddly enough. The rest of the bike was unscathed ?! pride not so much. No witnesses thank god. The heavy old girls go quickly once they hit the point of no return !!
Anyways just wondering what I should be paying roughly for a set of GENUINE mirrors, as the one that is left (right) is Non-G and has a bad vibe through it and was always going to change it.

Nige, I bought a genuine set through MH a couple of years ago, if memory serves me right they were about 80 bucks apiece.

Cheers

Yeh Derek this one thing I cant bodge left to right or right to left.
Thanks Eric I will be looking on line so at least I have a bit of an idea.

That's a pity Nige,
I bought a genuine set from MH and they were $80.00 ea. Although the mirror itself is a flat surface, the image reflection is distorted and appears to be convex.

Thanks Chief. Hopefully MH will be back in business next week. I think there is another guy in Sth Oz I believe deals in these old bikes, does anyone know who this is ?
I cant use my local Suzi shop as the young guys in spares are useless and have know idea of anything older than 5-10 years.

Nige,
Ian's right ... its SUZIPARTS not Suzuki Parts sorry mate, just trying to rely on some old memory cells.

Went through my list of saved sellers on the 'Bay' Nige.

Only set I could find were in old Blighty, bit exxy, hope MH is back in the thick of it soon...fingers crossed.

Cheers mate

as a footnote Katana fans - I noticed in my search for mirrors, the quantity of Katana parts was very, as in very very, limited. A few carbie kits, generic coils and bugga all else...I hope it isn't a sign of things to come, perhaps just a bit quiet in Katana land atm.

Thanks every one will give S.A a go. I looked at one in pommy land Eric and works out around 200 bucks + delivery a pair, just a bit too rich me thinks. I have seen a few Kats over time with different mirrors that look pretty good so there is always that path I can go down. Maybe over time Toadboy we will all have to go after market for our bikes as time gets on. I hope that rumour that Suzuki re makes old bike parts is true that will keep our girls on the rd for a very long time, until (proper) hover boards are made! How far ahead did Marty Mcfly go into the future?

Nige,
If interested google alpha sport - suzuki in the USA, they list the mirrors ex stock at USD $71.00 ea + postage.
I've searched for many parts and even with the exchange rate they seem reasonable. I've never bought anything from O/S though,
I'd prefer to support local business where possible.

Get a quote from Webike in Japan. I found them the cheapest for OEM parts. Looking at my records I paid $50 each for them when I rebuilt the wire-wheeler.

If worst comes to worst, I used to deal with this mob in Florida:

http://delandsuzuki.com/

That was before I discovered Mick Hone and when our $ was higher than the US $ or roughly at parity.

Aside from a couple of issues with my email orders going into their SPAM folder, there were no dramas and they seemed to do their best to minimise shipping costs compared with other US based dealers. They're also cheaper than Alpha Sports.

Hopefully MH will be back soon and you don't need to worry about it though...

..:) I've had dealing with "Partzilla.com" and never had a problem. I can highly recommend them ......Hopefully MH will be back.

Hey Nige
Sounds like you did the same thing I did when I dropped my 1100. I bought a set of mirrors for the 7fiddy from MH, November 2015 cant remember the price though but they were genuine in the box brand spankers! You can get Emgo ones to hold you over for about $20 that look almost OK (I had them on the 7Fiddy before I got the proper jobbies) if you want an interim until MH is back. Have a look at the picture of Black Kat on my old blog for what they look like. You can get them from any bike shop that does Emgo stuff. I'd give you my one except the LHS one was stuffed which is why I bit the bullet and bough the originals.

No worries PK I dont have a problem ridding without the left side, right is more important (just dont tell Drillit). I will look into it all in a few days.
Cheers ALL
