Lane Filtering in QLD

Awesome, but notice the tone of the article,"so called lane filtering" and "right to weave through slow traffic" - journalists really are a bunch of useless pricks. If you are a journalist and read this please take offence at what I have written.

From when I wonder, want to know when my daily practice will be legal.........

This is good news.
Hopefully there will be a public awareness campagin, so I dont have to wear out the middle finger passing inducator..

I can't wait! There was a more positive article on Brisbane Times about it yesterday that put a much better spin on it and included comments that the helmet laws should change to include international standard helmets as well, and the stupid laws about feet on the pegs while riding too. It's looking like February next year according to that one and they also mentioned the need for an awareness campaign.

does sound more positive, I even got a laugh out of the bit about helmets,

"For many riders it was an issue of size - Australian approved helmets didn't cater for those with larger heads"

When I did my license in the territory over 20 years ago, you could be in a lane with a car if it was stationary or indicating to leave the lane. That worked well.

I like the size issue with Oz helmets but all I can think of is finally being able to get a Simpson Bandit and paint it up.

You can do that now legally... if a car is indicating to turn you can pass on the opposite side as long as you stay in the same lane, and if a car is stationary you can pass on the right as long as you stay in the same lane.

That's why filtering is such a grey area now, usually you need to ride the white line or pass on the left of the cars in the right lane, and you're effectively changing lanes without indicating... all a load of crap but technically you're breaking the law so hopefully this will sort all that out.

From the article - Lane filtering elsewhere in Australia
New South Wales has already introduced lane filtering following a trial conducted in Sydney in 2013, and the Australian Capital Territory has announced a two year trial of lane filtering commencing in February 2015. Motorcycle riders should note that the rules in these jurisdictions may differ from the Queensland rules. Before riding interstate, motorcycle riders should check the relevant rules with the licensing authority in any jurisdiction where they are riding

I wasnt even aware this occured , its already been implemented in N.S.W. . . .shit . . thats how im reading it

Strange how we have a election coming up soon, I just feel this is Newman's way of getting us all onside again after the VLAD fiasco.

Getting us onside is never going to happen, I'm also a public servant so it counts double that he'll never get me onside.... there's also a high percentage of voters in his electorate that are public servants that he sacked, he will struggle to even retain his seat... unless he moves to the safe seat of Moggill.... (don't be surprised if he does!) (/rant)
