The late Robert Holden on a Kat 11 (modified) races Dave Hiscock on a Yoshimura GS1000 engined MacIntosh (possibly a GSX1000). The late Roger Freeth also features, also on a MacIntosh Suzuki. Graeme Crosby is one of the commentary team.

VHS quality... however good footage of Katana road racing.
 
Love the commentators comment at 22sec Mark "Holden using up all the road because the bike is That Heavy"

Also appreciate the good use of the "safety String" to hold the spectators back out of hears way, OH&S at it finest in the day.

Yes, good old safety string. All the tickets from such events, had something like "Motorsport is dangerous, you are watching it at your own risk." This was a widely accepted disclaimer. I remember as a child going to a midget car event at Western Springs Speedway in the mid-70s that was sponsored by Marlboro. They had attractive girls in Marlboro tee shirts and red hot pants (remember them?) giving out free cigarettes. In one race early in the evening one car collected another and it flipped several times and manage to penetrate the wire mesh fence just in front of where we were sitting, about a meter and a half off the ground, where it got stuck almost upside down. This wire fence was the only thing between the crown and the cars (and bikes). The midget car was about 2-3m from the front row seats, there was fuel pissing out of it and everyone was puffing away on their free ciggies..... It was freaking AWESOME!

Sensibly the smokers extinguished their fags as instructed... moved back to a safe distance and the recovery crews got the car out of the fence and into the pits. No one was hurt. Could have been a disaster, but it wasn't. No way any of that could happen today. Which is probably a good thing. Although OH&S has gone too far. I guess if we wanted to be completely risk-free, none of us would be on bikes.
 

Third leg of the Brian Scobie Memorial Trophy 1982. 25-laps. Quality is so so, but you do get to see Katanas racing some 13,106 days ago (as of today).
 
Hi Takahiro, yes the #10 Katana is very powerful. The rider Robert Holden, was tragically killed at the Isle of Man TT races in 1996.

The road race is still held every December 26th (the day after Christmas - which is called Boxing Day) in the town of Whanganui. The racing began in 1951. The street circuit is called the Cemetery Circuit -because it passes through a graveyard!

The death of Robert Holden who was very dynamic riding on the W.W.Katana is very sorry. By the way, I was able to confirm the appearance of Neville Hiscock recently on the cover of a magazine. I think this picture very good! A hero with Katana and girls. 66448aa217202a3fd5d2ebe38f11158c.jpg
