Like many other activities, planning for this years SOO has been impacted by Corona virus. The constantly changing conditions regarding travel, gatherings and border crossings are making it difficult to plan for this years SOO. As previously posted, to allow the most flexibility in responding to State Government restrictions and Health Dept. directives the planners for SOO have agreed to wait until the 1st of August to post Katana Australia Forum SOO 2020 details. It is hoped by August the Corona situation is such that SOO will be good to go for the first weekend in Sep.

The health and well being of Katana Australia Forum members, their familes and others we meet, must be the priority in the planning for Katana Australia Forum SOO 2020.

An example of the changes to daily activities and how this is impacting the planning for SOO is the following released by NSW Health.

NSW Health statement today 19 July 2020:

The NSW Government is advising against non-essential travel and social gatherings.

NSW Health deputy chief health officer Jeremy McAnulty warned the community to remain vigilant.

"Everyone has got a role to play. Don't be complacent."

NSW Health said transmission in hotels and restaurants, gyms and social gatherings was of "particular concern", and urged people to avoid non-essential travel and social gatherings.

I think we just have to suck it and see.
I would hope that if we choose a date for the gathering we would be unlucky if we go to book that all the cabins would be taken up.
Unless the Albatross have to limit there intake. Also the dinners may have problems with a decent group at the pub and also the club?
Be prepared for no SoO this year. Shame, but we as individuals may be fine for a get together just not sure of the rest of the towns.
Fingers crossed it will lax a bit. We are starting more social distancing rules again after what happened in Syd over the last few weeks.

Thanks Glen. While I was really looking forward to my first actual SOO attendance this year, I honestly can't see it happening at this point. Even though we're doing a little better up here, I'm expecting a "second wave" to start any time soon. Our return to the office date at work has already been pushed back twice, and looking at Vic and NSW I can see why.

At least we can still get out and ride here for the moment.

I have an extra concern as I mentioned at Power O the other week as our housemate is in the vulnerable age group as well, so I need to be a bit catious.

I agreed with Glen that at the moment so many things are uncertain at this stage. No one know who have the virus and even if that person have the virus, he/she might not realised it. And as an event organiser, health and safety is always a priority for every members. We don't want to start another cluster if someone in the caravan park tested positive.

My opinion.

Totally agree with both Glen and Frankie.

Just look at the news today with NSW. Outbreaks are popping up everywhere. Victoria have a total predicament.

And with the foreseen future WA borders still being closed, I can get out but getting back is a real dilemma.

What a dangerous mess

No worries Soxy, we're trying our best to keep up with things. This is todays (21 July 2020) update from QLD Government.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is considering closing the border with NSW if hotspots continue to develop in NSW.

Queensland recorded no new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. NSW saw 13 new cases, 12 of which were locally acquired.

22 July NSW Update.

NSW asked to reconsider weekend plans as COVID cases rise.
There is no “safe zone” from coronavirus in NSW, the Premier has said as she asks residents to consider staying home this weekend amid 16 new cases.

NSW Government urges residents not to travel.
The NSW Government is urging residents to avoid travelling, saying the next few weeks will be vital in lowering community transmission.

What we are suggesting over this next period of time, can everyone just reflect on their travel arrangements, their non-essential travel for the next few weeks.
“We need everyone working together over the next … two to three weeks.”

Group bookings at all hospitality venues – including pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafes – will be limited to 10.

Cheers for the updates guys, sounds like a strategic retreat to fight another day is the sensible way forward at the moment.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Cheers
Max

If it doesn’t go ahead this year don’t worry, we will get other opportunities to ride in the rain...
(like this weekend for instance...)

Yeah John, that low weather system moving along the coast has timed it just right for Saturday, not! With some luck it will be coastal and leave us alone.

O.K., with a lot of luck it will leave us alone.

Cheers.

Yeah sorry... I finally washed that roadwork mud off the Kat on Sunday in preparation for Saturday. My bad...

Friday 24 July QLD travel to NSW update:

Queensland's Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young has warned residents to consider the risks of travelling to NSW as further hotspots could be declared at short notice meaning they would have to pay for quarantine.

“We’re giving people as much time as possible to come home to the safety of Queensland but that notice may not always be possible."

“If an area where you are staying or visiting is suddenly declared a hotspot while you are there, once you return to Queensland, you will have to quarantine for two weeks in a hotel at your own expense.”

Our Victorian members have issues with Covid 19 and will be keeping a close eye on matters there. We are having a covid 19 problem in Sydney now. Take care everyone.

Hi Folks, decision day for Katana Australia Forum SOO 2020 has arrived. As of today, 1st August 2020 the rapidly changing situation regarding travel between QLD and NSW, the restrictions on gatherings and the potential exposure to COVID in some areas is soo uncertain it is not possible to plan for SOO 2020 at this time.

Given the current COVID situation and the impact it is having it would be an unacceptable risk to people and irresponsible to hold an event such as SOO in just four weeks from now. The only sensible course of action right now is to postpone SOO 2020 until the COVID situation improves to the level that border crossings, safe travel and public gatherings are supported by the relevant Health Authorities in both QLD and NSW.

Katana Australia Forum SOO will take place in the future, just not in Sep 2020.

Ride safe and be safe.

Cheers to all.
