Kat Tyres

Hey Guys,

My new 1100 Kat needs new tyres before I can rego her. Front at the moment is 100/90 19 and rear is 130/90 17. Whilst googling I found some tyres with a profile of 80. I know the rear has to be a 130 17 and the front a 19.
Are there any variations to what I have now or is that it?

Marty.

Hi Marty, I run Pirelli Sport Demons on a rear 17" cast wheel and rear 18" W.W. Kat. For the 18" there are no 130/90/18 so use 130/80/18 and all good. The S.D. 17" rear are available in 130/70/17, 130/80/17 and 130/90/17. I use the 130/80/17 and haven't had any issues with that size.

As for 19" front, nothing wrong with a S.D. 100/90/19.

Another good thing about S.D. is they only cost $310 a set fitted.

Cheers.

hi Marty . I,m runniing a 100/90 19 front and on the back 130/80 17 Mitchelin tyres was thinking of getting 90 profile for the back next time though I'm happy with the rev range and torque of 4250 RPM at 110 / 115 kph ratio with 15/42 sproket set up, there are 140 wide/80 or 90 profile tyres but you will find that the tyre will wear faster then the 130.though I like the fat look I hate to wear the fats out quicker then the 130 I used to run Pirrelli now I got a set of Mitchelins that are lasting longer and happy with price and performace aswell,I once ran with a 70 profile rear mag which was fine for the short rides to work but no good for any touring. ,back then I had a spare set of wider rimed 18'' pocked wheels running 110/90 front and 140/70 rear and could chop and change when needed ,cheers Pat.
