Jeff Carter,new to forum.

Hey Everyone, i have had Katana, s since 1981. I have 2 now a 1981 750 and a 1983 1100. I just bought the 1100 . I in the process of putting wire wheels on both of them. I planning to ride the 1100 around Australia in 2026. I have just one more year of working in mining here in WA before I retire. Yes it will be very uncomfortable for the first 2 weeks but then i will be used to it and saddle broken again. Got tingate swannecks which make all the difference. I will have plenty of time to do it so I am really looking forward to it. Attached couple pics of the Kats.

Hey Jeff, welcome aboard! The Kats look great, and the GSXR is looking pretty good too!

Sounds like a fun trip you've got planned. One fella here Pat did the ride from WA over to the east coast a few years back on his Kat, but I haven't seen him online for ages now unfortunately.

I should've also added to make sure to let us all know the dates and times ahead of the trip so we can hopefully organise a Kat-ch up when passing through.

Haha ...yes it will be a epic trip 9n the Kat, been planning to go for a long time. 2026 i will get it done.

Trailered my '81 750 from Gero to Perth back in March then had it shipped to Melbourne and vice versa from Sydney back to Gero. Rode from Melbourne to Sydney all through the Blue Mountains with a group of six of us over about 10 days. Was an absolutely amazing trip with some bloody unreal roads - makes our SW look pathetic, and Gero simply unrideable. Unfortunately one of the vacuum balance screws came loose in carby 1 and we couldn't figure out why the idle kept going bonkers during the trip so I had a few hairy moments with a Kat idling at 4000rpm in downhill switchback country with 40 odd year old brakes and was pretty shitty to ride through Sydney traffic.... Once home manged to rectify the problem in about 30 mins.. Bugger...
Clocked her 200,000km birthday on that trip and otherwise ran like a dream (until the screw came loose anyway).

You are going to have a fantastic trip and I love the two Kats - bit of a fan of the fairings, they look cool as. not a bad tourer I don't think, with slightly modded clip ons they'd be spot on

Hey Rusty 82..yes nice photos and yes some nice riding..i am originally from the East coast and will be retiring to Lismore NSW sept next year. I going to ride around OZ with my best mate who rode around Oz on a k2 honda four back in 1976 so 2026 will be his 50 yr anniversary of the ride so we going to do it again..he riding a 1800 goldwing and myself on the Kat...he said was a lot of dirt still in 1976.

If you're heading to Lismore next year, that means you should be there around the right time to join our annual state of origin trip as well! Every year us Qld'ers head south and the southerners head north and we meet for a weekend of Kat fun. Typically it's been Nambucca Heads but this year we're trying Walcha as Nambucca's prices have gotten stupid.

Hi Jeff. Welcome aboard, epic trip you have planned, hope it all goes well. I'm sure you and your Kat will turn plenty of heads. All the best in your retirement also. Cheers. Billyboy

Hi Jeff, lived in Broome and road my 83 SD 1100 6 times return Broome - Perth. Final trip was Broome / Perth / east to Melbourne then up to Yeppoon Qld. For those long desert bits , feet on rear pegs was the most comfortable for me. The old girl didn't miss a beat in all that riding.
cheers, Rangerkat

Yeah wow thats epic,,you certainly got around on it. Yeah i work in the Pilbara so know what its like out here...lots of nothing...but i so looking forward to going.

Patrick that did the lap a while back regularly posts on the FB pages.

Awesome trip.

Have done a lap around Tassie from Sydney. Kats are great touring bikes.
