I just got an email saying the show is cancelled

Quote:

"9th Jap Bike Show

HAS NOW BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO THE VENUE WITHDRAWING THIS EVENT

DUE TO LATE CANCELATION HERE THE TEAM AT JAP BIKE SHOW HAVE DECIEDED TO SHIFT THE EVENT AFTER WINTER WHEN A NEW SUTIBALE VENUE IS FOUND

WE WOULD LIKE TO APPOLOGISE TO ALL THOSE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE EVENT BUT YES THE SHOW WILL GO AHEAD AT A LATER DATE"

This was due to be held on the 20th March and as it was to celebrate the 35th year of the Katana which I had 2 of the Kat's entered.

I can't take a trick lately. Cannot take the Kats to the Albury meet and now this has been postponed to sometime after winter.

Disappointed!

Hey Tom, Just put the word out and have an impromptu meet/show in the car park out front of your place! It would be a nice ride also for your visitors. ...cheers Mate.
.
.PS.You could call it the "MUHAMMAD RIDE"

Hi Tom, Yes you must be disappointed ....I found out this arvo about the JBS - Perth.
My KAT's not show worthy, but I was planning on going to the event, I heard they have a ride after the show that non entrants can still participate in.
Hopefully when the weather changes mate we can plan a ride soon.

Mine is far from a show bike. But as a good friend said recently when I was considering to restore her or not "they are only original once"

Well Thomas depends on if you want to classifyit as a good condition survivor in "original condition", restore it in your own styling, or restore it to original factory condition.
Now mine is not Concours condition in my opinion, but I have put a hell of a lot of new GSP stock into it. My aim was to get it to "original" condition and I feel I am close.

Consider this, with the exception of normal maintanance parts if you have a Origianl condition "Survivor" and you break an indicator/mirror or burn out a control switch an replace it with a new part, is it still an Original Condition Survivor?

The actual comment was from a very long discussion with a good friend over east who has a Kat or 2 where we considering the car market and the sales trend now of price of restored vehicle is now a far greater return if still in original condition complete with age / use patina and the relationship of this to bikes.

As for originality; anything that requires replacement from wear and tear with genuine parts would I believe would be considered as original. The other consideration for both cars and bikes is the fitment of period correct accessories as well as high performance modifications and parts.

At the end of the day every Kat is a perfect Kat and it really does not give a rats to the condition, absolutely stock or radically modified. There is nothing else like them. (IMHO)

Thanks for the heads up on the swap meet Patrick. We will head there for sure. They always have a fantastic display of some beautiful old / vintage bikes.

got to the swap meet around eleven after a three hour ride up the old hwy, have not been that way since the new freeway opened years ago,any way things were suppose to wrap up at midday though most had packed up and left a lot early a ,the old kat ran great just topped up the engine oil and gave the chain a squirt , had a cuppa ,chicken sanga and cake and put up with the worst heart burn in a long time ,best mileage I've ever had at 18ks per litre,620kIMG_2026.jpg round trip.
