Sorry all, seems I've posted on another forum without introducing myself. Good start.....

So, I own an '81 1100 which I have actually owned twice now. I owned it for about 10 years and then sold it to a mate, who then sold it back to me a few years back. Have been riding it as my daily ride until a few months ago when I decided to take it off the road and rebuild it. It was just looking a bit old and tired and was due for a refresh. I'm riding my wife's Monster 620ie while the Katana is off the road. So far have stripped it back, painted the frame, engine, forks and have just started rebuilding it. Hope to have it on the road by about November.

Anyway, I'm 47 and apart from a 2 year break, I've been riding full-time since I was 16. Previous bikes include (in order) RD350LC (x2), Katana, Monster 600, TT600, 748SP, Katana (2nd time around).

I'll continue to post updates as the Katana rebuild continues, and look forward to contributing to this great resource.

cheers,

MattACT100

Welcome Matt.
Make sure to put your rebuild in the Restorations thread and lots of pics.
And start warming up for SoO 2017. NSW will take all the help they can get. :o

Hi Matt and welcome to the Forum. Great to hear you got your Kat back after your mate took care of her for a few years. Around here we love Kat rebuild stories so don't be a stranger and a few photos of the rebuild are always a treat.

Cheers.

Welcome Matt, as already said mate, plenty of knowledge and help here.

Also look forward to resto process :)

....a 350LC ay, that would have been a nifty little ride

Welcome Matt! Yep, another +1 on the rebuild details. You should have yours done way before mine...

Hi Matt, please check your Private Message file, see the top righthand corner of the page - Notifications.

Cheers,
Glen.

Thanks Toadboy, yep, the RD was a great ride but probably not what I would recommend for a 17 year old learner. But, that was a different time. Get you L's and off you go. Awesome bikes and would love another one, but the price of them these days is crazy. The 748SP was probably the best one though, pretty much a race bike with indicators. Would you believe I sold it to fund a caravan for a lap of the country - still gives me shivers thinking I sold a hot Ducati to fund a caravan. Anyway, it was the best decision at the time. Cheers, Matt

Hi Matt and welcome. Here's a pic for you to bring back memories of the long lost RD

Welcome Matt
I can relate to the "Old & Tired" statement ( both me and my Kat when I got her ).

Good luck with your resto, only advise I can give - ease of the throttle in the final straight!
I took 18months with mine, and now wish I took 24;)

Forum posted with your progress by setting up in the Restorations section

Cheers
Stuart
