Hi, new site looks great. Can anybody shed some light on why my speedo is not reading a constant speed but moves around like a pissed parrot? Started playing up last ride when giving it the berries, was flicking up and down varying 30-40 kmh at one stage. Also appears to read slower than actual speed sometimes going by revs verses kmh indicated. Strange thing is the speedo works ok when accelerating normally after leaving the bike overnight, but very quick acceleration brings the problem back on. Cheers, Phil.

Hi Phil, I have seen a speedo doing that just before the cable snaps. Have you taken the cable out and checked it for wear or damage?

Cheers.

Hi Shin-Ken 1074, thanks, will remove and suss out, thought maybe the speedo itself may have had an issue. Last broken cable was so long ago I cannot remember if I had issues like that or not. Cheers, Phil.

Also Phil have a look at the speedo drive gear inside the your dash as i found putting a tab of light grease inside helps the teeth work better. Also it's a bugger to tighten back up and also re fit the speedo cable. Also check the fitting on your axle and mark sure it has not moved and as Glen said your cable may be saying a do not want to play anymore.
Nick:)

Thanks Nick, will check that out as well, hopefully all will go smoothly and I will not need to use offensive, foul and abusive language to persuade parts back together. Keep your legs crossed for me. Cheers, Phil.

+ 1 on Glens comment Phil, had several bikes over the years that did this just before cable goes south, an easy check with a new cable otherwise Nicks suggestion may pay dividends if new cable don't work.

Cheers
