I'm back!

So I have not been able to ride the Kat since 2 January after injuring my back. Went to see my neurosurgeon last Friday for a followup after back surgery 2 February. A big thank you to Jo, my lovely wife, who looked after me so well for the first 6 weeks that I was for most of it flat on my back. It has been a long painful recovery and I still have pain in my back and pins and needles in my foot, but joy of joys he has given me the all clear (grudgingly). When I asked him if I could ride again he said I must do what makes me happy. A happy person is a recovering person. Battery is flat but will put it on charge, dust it off and soon take her out for a short run and build up to longer and longer rides.

Take care all of you out there in Katland.

Cheers

Mel

That's fantastic news Mel! Anything back related sucks, and getting stuck on your back for weeks on end I can only imagine how frustrating that would be. I hope the drugs were good at least! Good on your wife for looking after you too.

Good news Mel. That is exactly the right attitude to have after an injury. You must live on and do the things you love dearly no matter what. Look at the people who have lost limbs and climb back on there bikes and even race!!!?.
Slowly slowly.

Hi Mel, great to know you are up and with Jo's help have recovered to a level of mobility and with time and care keep on improving. "Do what makes me happy" now that is advice anyone would be glad to have! Backs are a tricky injury and from experience something that will need some lifestyle adjustments depending on the injury. Just being told you are good to ride again is fantastic news and I hope you have the Kat Smile again soon.

Cheers mate.

Excellent news Mel. I wish you a 100% recovery. In my case back pain comes and goes but I never had surgery or was flat out for weeks ata time. Enjoy the Kat and that South African sun.

Cheers brother.

First ride done and dusted! Just a short 30k run to see how things are. Beautiful morning here. Cool and sunny with no wind. Only problem is changing gears. Doc said that this will come right as sit was a side effect of the nerve damage. I will prevail!!
Thanks again fellers for all your good wishes
Cheers
