I bought a bike!

I finally got one. In fact it was the first one I went to look at. Got it locally at a very good price.

I heard about a bloke that had one (now mine) so I went and asked him if he knew anyone that had a Katana for sale and he said yes me. I didn't expect him to sell his as he has had it for as long as I can remember and he has done a lot of work with a lot of new parts.

The motor had a full rebuild first oversize Pistons, new head, clutch, brakes with braided lines, instrument cluster, top fairing, paint job, stainless steel spokes, fork brace, new seat plus I have the original one as a spare.

Rode it home tonight and it is running rough and won't idle but I put that down to the carbs need a clean out due to sitting.

After riding the 1250 Bandit and a couple of big adventure bikes over the last few years I forgot how much of a stretch it is to the bars. Was grinning all the way home though.image.jpgimage.jpg

Hi Adrian and well done on grabbing a sweet looking Kat! Bonus with her having had all that work done for you to now enjoy getting out and having fun. Any chance you could tell me the date and VIN on the ADR plate on your new Baby?

Cheers,
Glen.

Nice Work Adrian
And I like your garage:D, but can't see the beer fridge in the pics!

Yes, am sure we all know that "Frist Ride Grin"

Thanks for the positive replys. The motor has only done 800klms since the rebuild so i have to take it easy for a while and run it in. It origionally had the blue paint scheme but the previous owner prefered the red and silver. It was good talking to the previous owner as he and i both got it under similar circumstances. He bought it from the original owner through word of mouth. "go and have a chat to ol mate who works over there, he has one sitting in his shed that doesn't get used much".

The beer fridge is in the pool room Tomkat. The Kat would end up in there if i could throw out some of the kids old toys.

Congratulations AJ. It must seem like Christmas time. All the best for you with your new toy.

Put the red seat on when I got home and took the old girl for a run this afternoon (Kat not wife). The seat has been re-covered and it sits higher the the original blue one. I like the look of the red seat but prefer the height and shape of the blue one. Still taking it easy until I clean the carbs and run it in a bit more. Every thing feels nice and tight.image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

It does sit a bit high...the seat is the most important part of a kat IYAM.

We have a great upholsterer here in Bundy that could sort that for you.
