How to find out if matching numbers?

Hi Stuart,
do the matching numbers mean the original combination of frame and engine? If it is so, doesn't your bike have a decal by SUZUKI on the steering head?

I assume this is about the numbers stamped on the engine and sticker decal or frame plate on steering head with the vin numbers.
write these numbers down and if they match, you got matching numbers.

I see. Glen was talking about vin before, but I still do not know well about it, and I am not familiar. Thank You.

Hi Stuart, what do you mean by "matching numbers"? I'll take a guess that it's engine and frame numbers you are asking about. If so then here you go. Suzuki did not align engine and frame numbers when building real Katana so unlike some other makers our vintage Kats do not have "matching numbers" for engine and frame.

Is the bike reg is ter ed ? The only matching numbers you want/need are that the registration papers/record and the engine and frame numbers are the same/match up.
It was the old English bike's if the NUMBERS are matching the bikes are original / untouched and worth more.

Thank you, mate. That’s what I wanted to know. My frame starts with 54 and engine 17.

Yes ShinKen is correct. When I contacted Suzuki Canada they confirmed the same info. Ie there is no "matching numbers between the engine and frame. In my case I was lucky, as when I previously owned my pop up Ltd I documented the engine and frame numbers. So 30 years later, when I tracked it done and actually bought it back, it still had the same frame and engine numbers.
