How many E24 spec SXZs?

Eben

GSX250S Rider
Anybody have an idea how many E24 spec SXZs were made for the Aus market? Apparently only 20 E27 spec SXZs for NZ and 25 for SA. Did read somewhere mention of around 100-200 E24 spec SXZs?

Easy answer to that one- none! Only N.Z. and Sowd Effrica got the E24 spec SXZ 1100 Kats 20 for N.Z. and 25 for Sowd Effrica.

Cheers.

You wrong. E27 spec SXZ for SA and NZ. You guys in Aus got the E24 spec SXZ. I was wondering how many E24 spec SXZs were made. Cheers.

Opps, my mistake there Eben. Yes, E27 for you and the Kiwi Kats. Ours are E24 and there are no confirmed production numbers for the E24 SXZ Kats from Suzuki Australia or Suzuki Japan. The minimum number would be 200 as that was the minimum number of units needed to be sold to comply with the rules for Proddie Racing in 1981/82. There may have been more than 200 but if there was it won't have been too many more.

Cheers.

What is the difference between the 24/27 ?

Nige

Hi Nige, the main difference were:

rim size option
chromemoly round bar swing arm for the Saffer Kats.
brake calipers
timing
exhaust system, E27 outlet is 33mm compared to E24 outlet of 27mm.

There are a few other bits but one of our Kiwi or Saffer mates would be able to nail it in detail.

Cheers.

Clive Strugnell's South African SXZ that he has had from new at the Katana Run last Saturday at Swartkops Raceway. Obviously had a paint job. What about the Suzuki in the background. First correct answer gets an afternoon off work.

I agree with Eric, it's a Herron Suzuki livery and it would be great to hear if it's a genuine Herron. Thanks for the photo Mel. Interesting that Clive's Kat is fitted with stock SZ front calipers when the E27 SXZ had the "improved" calipers from another model fitted to the Kiwi E27 Kats?

Cheers.

Could be one of those XR69 jobbies with an EF motor that the poms are allowed to race in period 5 at the Island Classic..... cheats...

The E27 (The Suzuki Version Code for the NZ) shipped ex-factory with GS1100G front calipers, braided front brake lines, wire wheels, different cams (unique part numbers for them), VM32SS carbs, an additional inlet hole on the rear airbox, extra clutch plates (same as the SD clutch), and the big bore mufflers. The E24 engine package was the standard SZ

Clever boy! It is a 1981 Heron Suzuki XR69. Take the afternoon off!!

haha, must be a couple of cells still working in the old 'grey' matter :)

Does Reg get an early knock off as well ? I got the paint job but Reg nailed the bike :)

Cheers Mel

Hi Eric, How are you doing?

Yes, Heron Suzuki but if it is at the Island Classic at Phillip Island it will most likely have an EF motor in it which the poms can run in their period 5 class, we cannot and I believe that South Africa is even more strict when it comes to the period 5 racing, Drillit would know and from what he tells me of the rules that were there, I would consider those rules are what should be used in all period 5 racing classes throughout the world.

There is nothing wrong with skinny tyres, they just make my arse look big!

I wish I could knock off early... it's 'foreign order Friday' and I'm that busy at work I cannot get my stuff done.....
