Time to get all smokey. I love two strokes (keep those smutty thoughts quiet in the back). Of course everyone has read the rumours that the only reason we don't still have them around is because of some Honda related conspiracy, none of this environmental shite..... So beacuse it was Honda's fault I thought the next bike to get an airing should be a Honda two stroke. This is my NSR250. Its a MC21 SE for those train spotters that care and yes it has an MC28 rear fairing on it. This is one of the few non-eBay purchases in the garage. I was given this for free by a guy after a pissy lunch at Aria in Brisbane. It was in his shed taking up space and he was happy for me to have it as long as I collected it. By the time it got onto the road it was not free but still alot less than what they sell for. New oil pump, broken exhaust stud, fixing the carbs (several times), new tyres and a new PGMIII being the main things. Oh and redoing the wiring loom where mice had chewed through a fair part of the rear loom. Also had to remove their home.... The bike only has a claimed 10,000KM on the clock but given the tendecy to chew out speedo drives (done that twice) I suspect there are probably a few more than that. Even with my fat butt on board it goes like a scalded cat and when the power valves open up - woooooooooooo hoooooooooooo. The first time I strated I pulled on the brakes and nearly went over the handlebars - I was talking in a high voice for some time afterwards as well, it stops as well as it goes. You can see why these things were so popular as a race bike and they still race them in the Irish road racing series.
The main issue with bikes of this age is the computer - early attempts at eprom type stuff are great when they work. The other unusual thing about the bike is the colour scheme. They usually were dressed in boy racer sponsor colours - I haven't seen another one like this so either they are aftermarket jobbies or something different ex-factory. Either way looks good with the matching decals and rims.
