Hi my name is Bruce

Blackzook

GSX250S Rider
Hey,
I may have annoyed some by posting in the wanted thread before introducing myself.

I am a 53 year old builder who lives in Sydney but am only there about half the time as I work all over the place. I raced for a while but was only a grid filler trying to beat my mates towards the back of the pack

My first bike was a Kwaka Z250A.
I currently have
2004 black and purple turbo busa that was featured in Rapid bike mag
2008 1441 busa
2 x Gulf western Aprilia RS250 cup race bikes
1999 Aprilia RS250
CB900F2B I purchased new
1980 CBX1000 in very nearly original condition with less than 20k's on it.

I am looking for a couple of bikes I watched race as a kid, a CB1100RD and a wire wheel Katana.

If anyone here knows of an good WW that might be for sale please let me know.

Thanks

Welcome Bruce
Appears to be a long time between joining, submitting you're first post and introduction:)

Yes, may prefer that introductions are a common starting point and I have lobbied that it should actually be part of the sign-up process as it gets missed by many ( personally I dodged a bullet myself as the person who must have joined at same time as me and posted immediately got a scathing attack ).

Anyways, am sure that you'll find your foot pegs and will get a lot of good support. See that you've already got potential WW opportunities from replies to your post.

Best of luck and keep upright.

Hi Bruce, I'm not too worried about introductions but everyone's different and it is usual practise to intro yourself first, just being polite helps heaps....

The wire wheel model... hmmmm..... often mistaken for a 'Bathurst' model... no such thing...

There were very few genuine wire wheel models in Australia back in the day, I have the very rare 'cast wheel' model as most put wires on theirs.

You must check the provenance of every wire wheel you come across if you find one for sale, Shin-Ken is your goto man along with GTBoy and Gammaboy as well.

The way I see it, I'd take PKays offer...

When/where did you race? I used to live in Sydney and used to go to Oran Park and Amaroo...

Oh when I said I raced I meant as an old bloke in the StGeorge series, lol not in anything like a national thing!

Hi Bruce and welcome. I have a wire wheeled Kat but a year out of date as it is a SD model. As been said many imposters out there. If want a real WW check out PKay's offer.

Tom from (currently not so) sunny WA

LOL at not so sunny WA. I have been stuck in Collie for the last 5 months with only 10 days back home with my dogs over xmas and back here on the 2nd of Jan. I stood the crew down yesterday and today but it doesn't look any better for Monday.

Building in Collie???? If you end up back over this way yell. I work for Colli in the building industry.

Welcome Bruce! I have no WW to offer but you've definitely come to the right place to get some help verifying whatever you're buying is the real deal, and if it needs a bit of work the brains trust here will definitely be able to point you in the right direction.

Hi Bruce! Justin here. We met out at EC with the Hayabusa fellas. I had a 99 R/B and came out to watch with my brother in law on his R/B. It's gone because I'm all cancerous (damnit). I have had my Kat for 23+ yrs now and will remain as an heirloom for my boys.
Anyway, when you get your desired bike stick closely to this Katana mob. They are nothing like the grandstanding Hayabusa mob in general (Pan, Heidi, Bazman, Simmo excepted of course). These are all unreal fellas who love these old bikes and love getting together for a ride and catch up. And the Sydney fellas you will meet are just awesome. Not to mention the fellas you will meet on your travels. I reckon Bazman should get his Kat going and be a part of all this too!
Hopefully you get your WW and we will go for a ride on the Kats one day. Cheers Justin.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Today I got my frame number matching wire wheel 1100, it is in horrible condition but has history. I saw this for sale a while ago and made an offer I thought was a bit over the top and after being fucked about for weeks it was accepted. I also purchased two other Kats for parts.

Good onya Bruce, now we need to see some pic's! Sounds like you got the Kat you were looking for, awesome stuff.
