Hi from Dongara WA

Hi, my name is geriatric Pete (but still minus walking stick),from the sunny west and I have just purchased my first Katana. My ride at the moment is a Kwaka 1700 Nomad cos the better half needs comfort (likes Harley's for some stange reason). I got the bike as mostly completed with just a couple of boxes to shake. I need to know when it was built as all I have is the chassis number, and asking Suzuki Au, well, I may as well ask a dead Roo. Anyway it is good to know that there are many Katana addicts on here and I hope to meet you in the future. The chassis number is GS110X-530225. Keep on smiling, Ya all.

Welcome to KA Pete, plenty of Kat addicts here, and there are a few who will know exactly the MY of the frame. Mine is an 1982 with the number GS110X-532498, which makes yours some 2,273 before mine, would think that would have to be from good old 1982 ?

Cheers

Paul

G'day and welcome Pete. There are a few members from WA on the site ... three are North of you in Sunny Geraldton.
There's plenty of information available the forum. With regard to your Chassis # help wont be too far away. Congrats on the Kat purchase,
when you can post up some pics of your bike.

Cheers

The Chief.

Hi Pete and welcome to the Forum. Glad to see you have saved a Kat and are planning to get her back on the road. Once you have it together and out and about be prepared to chat with people, a lot! You'll see what I mean and it's in a good way.
Your V.I.N. 530225 (frame number), confirms your Kat is an Australian delivered GSX1100SZ Kat. When fitted the V.I.N. plate records ADR compliance, date stamp and the frame number. There is a Kat 700 after yours and it's stamped 1/82 and a Kat stamped 8/81 that is 200 before yours so that's the range of V.I.N. plate date stamps your Kat will fall into. The V.I.N. plate is attached beside the stamped frame number on the steering head however, some Kats are missing the plate these days (sounds like yours is also missing) but it's no showstopper come time for rego. Thanks for joining and we hope to hear and see more of your Kat as you progress with getting her up and running.

Cheers,
Glen.

G'day Pete and welcome, there are many enthusiastic members in WA and I'm sure you'll get to meet them. Most old codgers go from their beloved Kats to a cruiser, as we head into our retirement years, where the last question at the cashier is "do you have a seniors card?"...Stuff'em the cheeky little shits :D

G'day Pete - welcome aboard mate - Im just up the track in Gero. Have doen a resto on my 82 750 a few years back now, but as most on here would know its never really finished!!!!

Im heading down to the Dongara Show n Shine on Sunday 25th - I jheard there will be a few bikes around, plus a historic race car around teh houses type thing on along with the car show - should be a fun day.
