Well seems I posted my intro in the wrong section. Anyway, I've been struggling for some time to find out how to solve my leg room problem. Would like to find some lower pegs for my 82 Katana, if anyone has any ideas please let me know. I've also just bought a new seat from webike.com. Unfortunately it's arrived and is only the foam and the cover much to my disappointment. IDo anyone has done this mod or can help with what's involved in getting it on the seat base, please do share. Cheers!

Never heard of any lower pegs you could buy off the shelf - which means if you really want to go that route you have to do your own set. That'll lead you into cornering issues doubtlessly - unless you don't do corners, obviously.

So the way to go is upholstering the seat which you trying to do as I take it? The seat base is a thermoplast thingy with some fins extended into the seat foam sticked to it. Easy to peel off. I have done a seat cover quite some years ago using genuine leather. Got me some blisters doing that. I suppose those pre-sewed covers from those webbike.com professionals should make that jobbie a lot easier.

Hi Ryano, and welcome to Katana Australia. Lowering the pegs not only create clearance issues when cornering the lowered pegs will also have a problem with the exhaust system with both the original 4-2 and any aftermarket 4-1 system. Having the seat re-upholstered and raising the height of the riding position is the best solution. I have done this myself for a Kat and it works fine. I kept the original seat and used a donor Kat seat base and had the new sheets of seating foam shaped and ride tested until I was happy with it and then had it re-upholstered. It doesn't look anything like a Kat seat and will not win any beauty contests however, when it's needed to do it's job (pillion for my wife) it works. A well designed and well made custom seat should help improve your riding position on the Kat.

Cheers.

Thanks all! The pre made unit should be an easy fit to my standard seat base, just a bit hesitant to pull the existing top off, as there's no going back
