Hi Sawoody, the SZ,SD, and SE 1100 Kat had the same fork, SD and SE lower fork were black ex-factory. The 750 "Real" Kat (GSX750S) also used the same forks.

Cheers.

Thanks, mate. “Real”? Isn’t that the 1100 ?

Nope. Shin-ken always had a hankering after a blue seat ...............

Others may also raise his passion for pop-ups - which is no doubt on a par with his admiration for the 650 Katana.

Guess what I found in my roof?.............. A pair of black forks off a 7fiddy.
Springs maybe compromised though as it was off my 750 race bike and I think they were changed?

Yes and no. Yes, the 1100 is a "Real" Katana and in this case so is the 7-Fiddy a "Real" Katana. The no is a 750 Pop-Up isn't a Katana. In this case the 7-Fiddy is classed as a "Real" Kat so as not to be confused with heresy that is a pop-Up.

Cheers.

Hi Nige, the list of treasures you have found in your roof over the years is amazing!

Cheers mate.

A 650 what!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If a 1980's Suzuki engine has 2 valves per pot then it isn't a GSX engine. If it isn't a GSX engine then it isn't a Katana. Soo sad to see you put 650 and the K word together, you were once one of us, but now.................................

So isnt a pop-up a GSX motor?

Nige

Yep Nige, the engine is a GSX however, they bolted the engine into something that the team at Target Design had nothing to do with. If Jan Fellstrom didn't pen it, then it isn't a Kat.

Good thing you don't own one eh Nige.

You must be thinking of another Drillit Reg. The one I know is the Number Two ticket holder in the Pop-Up Darkside voodoo is bad Juju club. Of course that doesn't include the "other" type of Pop-Up, the rare afternoon type Pop-Up.

Gee Glen, that's a bit like slapping a slightly ugly, slightly over-weight child of below average intelligence...

So what about the Katana 550?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahha, Darryl, you are correct about the tough love. A 550, oh no! Please stop! Just thinking about it causes a rash. And the 50 scooter labelled "Katana" - WTF! More slapping!

My personal view of the Katana family is:
The ugly children: 550 (the runt) and 650 (the fat kid)
The good-looking kids: 750, and the 1100 (favourite child)
And Mum shagged around (but you're still family): 750 Pop-up

No tea-pots, no scooters.

(Drops the mic)

I've got a set of stock 750 springs kicking around if anyone desires them.

The Pop up motor is closer to the GSXR family than the GSX family though, the entire engine is about an inch shorter front to back, the gear cluster centres are smaller, etc etc. To fit the big GSX motor into the 750ES or Popup Kat, you need to stretch the frame about an inch.
