Hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows with or has dealt with a good upholsterer around Brissie who would be good for the Kat seat?

I know of two good ones... the fella in Bundy who has done a few for Dave etc. and another in Beaudesert from another forum, but I'd prefer to find someone fairly local who I could actually have a chat with first so I can work out the best way to finish the seat pan off.

Well... not sworn off completely... but this time they'll need to cut the foam and work out the stitching etc. so I think it's safer to use someone a bit more experienced with motorcycle seats.

Not sure if that is the same John I got a number for. 0419 730 589. I spoke to this French guy at mad motorcycles on Monday and he had his seat done on his bandit. Such an excellent job. Says if you are unhappy with it, the guy will modify it to suit your riding style /position. Looked great anyway.

I've heard that name before now that you mention it.

Sounds like he's worth the call!

This is the bit I like from his website:

Custom Seats.
You can trust John to bring your custom seat to life. Working with either the factory base or a custom base supplied by the customer he will carve your ideas out of foam and cover them with your choice of fabric.

If it's just the cover you need fitting, I have a staple gun and patience...

I've done quite a few MX seats with good results and have just fitted a new cover to the GS seat - I haven't fooled around with foam as yet though.

John Moorehouse is the expert, but he can be difficult to nail down and it can take some time to get your stuff back from him sometimes.

I cut my own foam on the wee beastie and got a local place to cover it for me... this time I need someone a little more skilled than I to do the foam and the seat will be red and black, so I think for my sanity I need to go the professional route this time. Cheers for the offer though Paul!

I'll give John a call once my mould is close to done as I'll want to incorporate anything he suggests into the seat pan before I take it to him.

John is excellent but will take several months to turn your seat around. He did my seat for the 750 and even make up the ripples in the back for the genuine look. He has done 4 seats for me so far and has another three on the go at the moment. But as I said 4 months roughly for turn around on a good day.

4 months? Ouch! I guess I'll give him a call when I'm ready and see what his times are like, but that's really gonna be a killer seeing as I need to match the powder coat to the seat colour.

Cheers guys!

Getting close to finishing the mould for the pan so I hope to give him a call next week and see what he says.
