My mate rang on Friday during his morning walk to let me know that he'd stumbled on something I might be interested in. You'd better believe me when I say he didn't have to wait long for my arrival. It just needs a good clean.DSCN0164.JPGDSCN0165.JPG

Is this system is from a 750 perhaps? The rear mount points look different from an 1100.

Not a 750 Kat (82-84 anyway) as brackets should be same as 1000/1100, not sure if it’s for a popup as don’t know backets for them.
Regardless, am not sure what other suzuki’s Had Black Chrome 4-2 in that configuration and am sure you could adapt to make fit.

What is approx size of center outlet at rear of muffler ( 21 or 25mm )?
 
Further to previous, my money is on it being an '85/'86 750 popup set.

Bolton brackets match ( '82 750 was welded on same as 1000/1100.
Bolt on covers mid-way match popup.

Good find none the less.
 
A bit of a mystery, still a very good find.

The reason I asked about it being for a 750 as I've had a chrome set of exhaust pipes that looked exactly like the black chrome set you've found. These turned out being from a 750 GS Suzuki, they had the smaller dia header pipes, I think 39mm OD from memory. Also the heat deflectors screwed to the collectors, near where the riders feet would be, are not found on the 1100 Kat pipes.

I've also spent quite a few weeks earlier last year rebuilding a very rusted out orig Kat 1100 exhaust system, so I sort of know the system rather too closely actually!

Have a look on Mick Hone's website and enter those numbers you have, that should help locate what they are from.

Thanks for you help Rob. At the moment I don't have a use for the exhaust as I'm happy with the chrome GSX1400 cans I fitted to my 1100. In the mean time I've got a couple of CL Hondas to restore and a shoulder reconstruction that should take priority but if a 750 Kat comes up at the right price then it looks like I've got an exhaust system to fit..

Outlet diameter of muffler is 32mm. Header pipe OD is 41mm.
