Gday from Cairns

New to the site but not new to motorcycles , been riding for 40 plus years now . Just aquired an '81 1100 Kat (wrote the first one off 20 years ago , a rare now 1000SZ ) from a friend who has owned it since new (he actually ordered it after seeing one at the Sydney Motor Show when they were first released ) . It hasnt run for 8 years , Stator is knackered and carbs need full rebuild or replacement and i am sure there will be other minor gremlins but cant complain as i only paid $1000.00 for it . i have known this particular bike for 25 years or so and it was a daily ride until he bought a GSXR1100 and parked the poor old Kat . As i have said i am not knew to motorcycling and have owned many bikes over the years and wish i still had them all . Currently in the stable i have a 2007 Honda 900 Hornet , a 1981 Honda CB900F Boldor , a 1991 Kawasaki ZXR750J , a 1978 Yamaha TT500 , and a 2005 BMW F650GS Dakar for outback camping trips with a few mates telling lies around the campfire. Glad you know the history as that is just as rare these days.

Thanks for the replies and making me feel welcome Nige and Toadboy . Yes , Very happy with it . Got it home and gave it a quick Gerni to get the dust off it and was amazed at how good it came up . Tossed the full fairing side panels that he had on it ( gotta be able to see the motor in my opinion ) into the back of the shed . The bike did have a freshen up about 10 years ago and was re-painted by a top notch painter (mouse ) up here in Cairns so it still looks fantastic . Wont be long and the old girl will breath and growl again . Kind Regards Dave
 
Hey Dave and welcome. I too had a Kat when I was a young bloke. Just picked up my new toy, 1100 Kat, 2 weeks ago. These things are so awesome! And yes how good does that motor look:D
