Freight from USA

I'm looking at some bits in the US but the freight is ridiculous. Is this usual?
It's $5 worth of bolts and they want $35 for freight.

Shipping is a bugger. Sometimes the cost reflects a brokerage cost. If this is the case, it's good. When it's not, you have the extra expense at the back end. Ether way, still a lot of money for 5 bucks worth of parts. :ugeek:

Yep. Well they got back to me and said they can combine shipping for $19. So I bought it and it charged me the quoted so I have to see if I can get a refund.

Yeah shipping has gone up quite a lot over the last few years, cost me $US119 I think it was to get my forks shipped over which was mainly due to the weight, but for the price they were it was well worth it.

Yeah Ben shipping from the States is no longer reasonably priced compared to what it was. Our poor exchange rate isn't helping however, the exchange rate is not the only factor at work by the look of things. I bought a spare Kat tank from the States three years ago and the freight was US $48.90. I got a quote recently for another tank (ya can never have too many tanks) and the freight from the same place was US $136.85!!!!!!!!!! When I asked why the jump in cost the answer was everything is costing more to do these days and USA Postage/freight has been one of the areas hit the most with cost increases. The plus is that with the low prices for parts like forks, tanks, seats, clocks and engine components in the States even with the high cost of shipping it still works out cheaper than buying used parts here. Of course if it's a new part then it has to be M.H. everytime.

Cheers mate.

Australia tax.

Hahaaa yes. Keep it all under a $1000 !!. Im sure Ozzy post has set up in Oregon ? in the States and in some cases the US do free shipping interstate. I have not done this for myself but am pretty sure it has happened (saw it on TV )because of the internet sales escalating over the years. About 12 months or so ago we did some calculations at work and it was a bit cheaper than using US mail to ship straight down under but that was a while ago . Has anyone looked into this?
