Frame measurement

Hi All,

I'm looking if someone with a bare 1100 or 750 frame could help me with the internal measurement from the lower frame rails to the bend in duplex just where the central upper rail begins. It's the only bend in the backbone. Thanks in advance.

Hi Darryl, good news and bad news. Good news is I have a bare 1100 SZ Kat frame. Bad news, it ain't a good template for measurements right now, 2nd bit of bad news, it is away to be straightened and I'll be 1,800 km away from it for the next few weeks. Sorry mate however, if you are not in a hurry I can sort it out for you when it is back.

Cheers mate.

Ok Darryl.
With the start of the tape just in front of the bottom engine mount (1100) to the I.D of the RH side rail at the small cross brace on the backbone is 530mm and 545mm at the centre of the arch.
Is this what you are after?
Not vernier accurate but pretty close.
BTW this frame has been straightened also so not 100% accurate.

Nige

Thanks Nige, below is the dimension I'm interested in on the RH side. I was at work when it dawned on me that I should ask the group. Took this pic now. And thanks mate. And thank you too, Glen for your kind offer.

Good to see Nige is on the job. When my frame is back and plumb I can cut a rod and give you the exact measurement if you still need it, about 3 weeks I am told it'll be ready and back at my place.

Cheers.

Ok the LH measurement was........540mm and RH 535mm. Did you see what I did there Derek.Hey hey
That area is the point of slight noticeable bend before I got the frame looked at.
I ran the verns across the squish point and both read 30 +- a poofteenth.
But these aren't precision frames haha. Even the little cross braces running from the outer tubes to centre spine are at different lengths but still being mirror image and directly inline with each other if that makes sense!!.
But when on Laurie Aldertons jig all the right points where in the right spots.
He has been doing this for a million years so I must put my trust in that I suppose.
I will try and get some pics up tonight to show where the heat has gone for his bending process.

Thanks Guys, this is really helpful. Looking at the frame, I think the steering head 'triangle' (viewed from the side) has rotated around the bend in the upper frame rails -I.e. the bend angle has become greater- with the downtubes have bent back just below the gusset below the steering head . I need the measurements to work out whether the backbone has popped upwards as well and whether I need to pull the backbone down or just hold it while I straighten the downtubes.

And your right Nige, the frames weren't CAD/CAM robot welded. It was some dude holding an electrode
