Expat in USA planning to return to Australia

Hi, I'm a kiwi/aussie (dual nationality) living in Portland, Oregon. Planning to move back to Australia, possibly SA, in the next few years and want to bring my bikes. If you don't mind, will pick your collective brains for some local knowledge about importing, compliance, rego, etc.

Cheers.

I don't know about shipping etc. but I'd lose that front tyre (Bridgestone S11) and use the BT45, felt like the front end constantly sliding out when I had one.

Oh, and you'll have to renounce dual citizenship if you want to get into politics here.

Nice bikes BTW.

Thanks for the comments. Workshop's just been finished, thus clean and tidy, and now getting into some projects.

I lived for many years in Sydney and Canberra but I like Adelaide and Perth - and, I might be totally wrong on this, at least SA does seem to be a little more sympathetic to historic vehicles? Now my American wife and I are staring down the barrel of 50, we're looking for our final settling down place (not the US). A nice city, not too big, close to beautiful beaches and wine country. And somewhere that works well for historic vehicles and has nice riding/driving.

I'm about to embark on a resto-mod of my Kat. USD forks and Bandit swingarm. I've read some Australian online compliance stuff but every state seems to be different. In your own experience in your state, does this need to be complianced? If so, is it a difficult process?

Anyone know if these changes fall into what is allowable under SA's new relaxed "$90 for 90 days" rules about allowable changes to historics?

Thanks.

I am from Sydney and really like the place, Queensland is my second home, SA brilliant place to visit but Perth is the place to live.
As for regoing import bikes; once you have them in Australia: (from my experience) Perth is just a simple roadworthy inspection, show proof of ownership as in a receipt that you paid for it and pay your fees. That easy. (pre 1989 bikes imported)
