Hey guys hope you're all staying safe at the moment in our new socially distanced and self isolated world!

Just a heads up on a forum post from another forum this morning from a fella on the Gold Coast:

Left home for a quick ride yesterday at 530 am

Quick ride up tambo and back with a quick stop at outpost for a coffee.

Heading through tambo on the way home cops stopped me and gave me a warning for not essential travel could have been a $1300 fine.

That is not good Pete and they have started to give warnings to people standing close in the street and next time it will be a $1,000.00 fine.
Also all fast food stores you can order and then go to your car to eat as not allowed in the store.
Nick

In WA it is a $1000 on the spot fine unless you have just cause (i.e. medical, chemist, work or shops) to go out and about. Also no more than 2 people on any one group apart from if you all reside in same dwelling.

I have actually just change just change my insurance with Shannon's to "laid up" which save a few dollars as well as the excess is mega low if you have a fire or break in. I did keep the new Kat on full insurance as I can ride that to the hospital or surgery every once and while.

I heard they are looking at people with club plates in particular as they know its not everyday work use.

I went for my walk this morning up Samford Rd and the traffic is light, but a number of bikes were in there.

I reckon if you need to get out, the safest option would be to join the morning commute traffic. It won't be open throttle twisty riding, but traffic is light, and I doubt the coppers are likely to interfere with that too much. Hitting the hills would be asking for trouble. My Mrs asked me to go and grab something from Chermside yesterday and I went the (almost) direct route and back and had no issues, that was after 10am.

I think I'll aim for the "commute" once a week at this point to at least keep both bikes moving and batteries charged etc. I'll take my work ID with me so if I do happen to get asked I can demonstrate I had to duck into the office briefly.

The VJMC has released an email stating that there is no sanctioned events and impromptu rides are banned as well the WA Council of Motoring Clubs who is the overall approving body for the Historic rego's has withdrawn all approvals which means in Historic registered bikes and cars are grounded.

Now that's getting serious, luckily i have been slack and don't have club rego on any of my kats, I may just choose to ride a different one each day to work (not really feasible), hahahaha

I will still be riding my club rego bike to and from work.
Thats bullshit as they cant stop that.
They dont give a rats arse as long as you not going for a " in ya face "cruise.
Its still a legal form of transport that can be ridden 60 days a year.
So no need to be paranoid fellas.

Cheers Tom! For me, riding is my mental health break so that is very good to know. I won't be disappearing up Mt Mee or anything though, more around if something were to go wrong I don't want to have to get medical assistance right now! But an extended local suburban ride is definitely a goer!

Nige, you guys may have different rules but up here club rego plates are explicitly banned from being used as commuter vehicles, even in normal times, so enjoy it! That's one reason I won't put my bikes on club rego, I like to be able to do the commute on them if I feel like it.

It’s not the same but Ride 3 on PS4 has an 1100 Kat.
That and the odd commute to work will have to do.

Sad times but I hope everyone stays safe and pulls through with their job at the end of it all.

Thanks for that article Tom. So if I ride past power O at 7 with a mate on my exercise ride and another two bikes tag on 500 MTRS later ECT and I stop at the pit stop and there just happens to be a couple of other bikes there socially distancing I should be ok?

Pitstop should be closed except for take away coffee! No?

I’m going to bet that you won’t get away with leisure riding at the moment. Simply because there will be the idiots that ruin it and we’ll be blanket ruled.

Yeah Derek mentioned Pitstop is takeaways only.

I'm not going to tempt fate, will stick to local rides. Working from home means no commute which sucks. I had to duck out and grab a couple of things this morning so I just went the long way... suburbia, traffic lights, but bugger all traffic so it was still good for the mental health and a bit of exercise.

By the way, really good to hear from you Ben!

Copy that pete:D and yes good to hear you Ben. And bugger it next Saturday I have off I'll be buzzing the tower at power O armed with Tom's said article for proof. Most of those roads aren't well frequented by the us and them except across the top. Alternative is a Campbell pocket top and return and the boys know a few back roads and trails. I'm not sick, I'm sometimes sensible and I'm not living in communist China. Live to ride ride to live.

The WA body who has the overall control of historic registration has grounded all special regoed bikes and cars which are now effective be charged with riding / driving an unregistered vehicle here.

We are completely banned from using historic registered vehicles to and from work at any time.

As for any non essential commuting; they have basically banned this. However, exercising is not and I need to exercise my brain (well the un-pickled part anyway)
