Carb settings

Hey Team
Can anyone tell me be the general carb settings for a 1100 83 Kat
Appreciate there are a lot of variables exhaust so on but Kat is quite standard.
In running the needles at the third clip down and the fuel screws 1 3/4 out on each carb . Main as in jets 12.5
Take off good , heavy acceleration good but cruising just doesn’t feel very sweet . Feeling a little rough .
Interest to know what you guy run .
Cheers guys .

Is she standard airbox and pipes? Any mods will effect jetting to a larger or lesser degree. BTW, 12.5 isn't a main jet size, from memory, standard main jets are around 107.5 - 110 - 112.5 depending on model

As you have said there are many variables that will impact the set-up. Something else to take on board regarding carbs, is it an Australian delivered 1100 Kat? In 1983 different markets had very different states of tune for the carbs. Australia/NZ/Sud Effrika received the sporty version however, some markets got the detuned Kat.

Kiwialfa is on the money, 12.5 is not a main jet size for a 34mm Kat carb, looks like a typeo and you missed a "1"? Factory Kat 1100 manual lists stock as a rock with factory airbox the main jet size is 112.5.

Once headers/muffler/intake system is changed then its time to hook up an 02 sensor to work out the best jetting.

For my Kat with aftermarket pipes, sporty cams and no airbox the 02 sensor testing finished up with 160 main jets. Yep, model, mods, wear and tear will make a difference however, for a stock Kat 112.5 is the starting size.

Yeah 112.5 sorry four into one yosi muffler standard everything else .
Jet size seems ok as that comes more into play at higher throttle.
I made sure carb were standard so I had a good starting point .

Those specs are (I think) GSX. The Katana supplement pages have slightly different info (I'm currently rebuilding my carbs...)
(This is the relevant page, Aust is E-24)

Cheers Mate I have the same info and changed needle main jet and emulation tube to match .
Standard as box .
Will be interested in knowing how you go with setting up .

Mine's fairly stock as well but it's been sitting idle for a long time and I'm now just trying to work through the issues that put it in the corner (actually, that will come after the issues which have developed WHILE it was in the corner!)

Did you try the phone number? Positive he's still running but I think he may have moved also going by a recent conversation. He's old school, so I don't think the website will be all that current unfortunately.
