Cape York Kat ?

G'day all, hope you all had a good xmas and have a good new year as well. I don't know if this bullshit or not but I can remember someone told me a story ( possibly early 80's ) about some guy who rode a Kat (750 or 1100 ? ) up to the top of Cape York. Apparently fitted dirt bike tyres to it for the dirt. Anyone hear anything about this story or is it bull.

Hi Ranger, thanks for the Seasons Cheer mate and all the best to you and your family. I was living in Cairns and then Townsville up until 1984 and didn't hear about the Cape Kat. I am not saying it didn't happen but in a pretty small outfit like Cairns and Townsville was back then you'd have to think that ride would have made the rounds of the bike community at a ride/BBQ or beers somewhere, even if it was pre-internet and social media days. Or maybe I was away riding my Kat and missed it all?

I know I had the only Kat in Mount Isa 82/83 and on many trips across to Townsville during those 2 years I did not see another one, let alone hear stories about a Cape York trip...not saying it didn't happen though.
 
My brother was telling me that they were in the bush off a main dirt rd on there trailies doing this knarley hill climb when this bloke zoomed passed them and ploughed his way up the hill on his Harley complete with ape hangers !!. It wasn't gracefull !!! But he made it to the top. They were all gob smacked and were rolling around the hill pissing them selves. He said the bloke had crazy eyes and a massive shit eating grin through his beard when he came back down.
With blokes like that out there why not !?
