Brisbane to Phillip Island

Talk away Reg.
I got 2x 3 day passes for October for my b'day. So I'm taking my old boy who's b'day was the day before mine.

Who's done this?
How long does it take and what's the best way?

cheers
Ben

Hi Ben, did the first two in 1989 and 1990, and went back to The Island when the GP left Eastern Creek - thankfully! Have ridden the Kat (yes the same one as now) to The Island for 11 GP's so far. There are plenty of ways to get there and times are similar. Riding from Brisvegas I usually take three days down three days there and three days back. Day 1 Bris - Newcastle, Day 2 Newcastle - Eden, Day 3 Eden - The Island. To knock it over in the six days at legal speed it's long days with just fuel and piss stops and the beers every night are very welcome.

Do the ride Ben, it's well worth the pain. And yes if you take The Mongrel you'll have lots of new friends, the Kat always attracts fans on the way there, while at The Island and on the way home - everytime!

Cheers.

There is not enough time on here to fill you in on possibilities and routes to take, Glen has a possible way but I spent a long time riding south of the border and know of several options you can take, I would take time with you in person armed with maps. there are some great roads and great places to stop overnight, thus, we need to talk, just not here.

Get your maps out and give yourself plenty of time to get down there and back as there are some awesome roads in the N.S.W. and Victorian high country and elsewhere. Also you need to book accom now as the Island fills up over the Gp. Going on reports Casey Stoner may get a wild card ride at this years Moto Gp.

I probably won't stay on the island. A mate tells me Inverloch is a nice ride and great place to stay.
I stayed at Cowes in '98 and it was crazy.

I stay just out of Cowes in Ventnor and made sure i did all my shopping when we first arrived and that way you get to enjoy the atmosphere and trying to find somewhere to park your bike in Cowes on Friday and Saturday arvo.
