Bring to life

Hi All, I would appreciate yours thoughts/recommendations please. My 83 1100s has been in storage for 3 years and hopefully I will be returning to Aus soon to bring her back to life. She's in a storage unit , on centre stand , full tank of fuel and new oil/filter in it. I have left it for 2 years before like this and all I did was put a new battery in her , fired her up and rode away. Seeing as this site is full of experts I would appreciate any advice on the bringing her back to life. What procedures would you do ?
cheers, rangerkat1100s.

My only concern would be the state of the fuel and condition of the carbs after sitting for so long.
They do tend to gum up.

:)..Dave,Truer words never spoken. The quality of todays pump fuel is such it goes off so quickly it is of major concern. There are a couple of products available that make all sorts of claims to increase the life of fuel and to help prevent it going off and to help prevent it from turning to varnish/gum and outlandish claims to clean everything in the fuel system including your false teeth while you ride. I've been having some success with "fuel doctor"(lime green -looks like radiator inhibitor) and a couple of aerosol can products that supposedly are a "magic cure". If it's not real bad they seem to help? BUT I've got the carbs off my SE at the moment cause nothing helped and they've been butchered so I've left them in disgust at the moment. Thanks that reminds me I should be down the shed. cheers Ian:cool:
PS you'll probably have to pull them off and give them a through clean. I'm definitely NO CARB EXPERT. I'm also just as interested in other peoples experience and advice:)

Rangerkat1100s, I've not had any experience with wynn's spitfire. When I started to use the "fuel doctor". I looked and researched what was available . I've only started with "the fuel doctor", it has replaced a "pro-ma "product I was using, which doesn't claim to keep fuel "fresh". Sorry mate that's my limited experience..:)

I have been using a fuel stabiliser product called Sta-Bil.

STA-BIL Fuel Stabiliser - 236mL

Price: $22.95 each

•Keeps stored fuel fresh, for quick & easy starts
•Eliminates the need to drain fuel prior to storage
•Protects fuel against moisture contamination

Seems to be okay - pricing is from Super Cheap

After storage I would also be inclined to change the oil? Again as above Im no expert but for the small price to pay and ease of changing it out Id be surely draining the old oil and giving her some new fluid. As above Id be inclined to remove the carbs and give them a clean - this is also not as hard as one would think and will give you an assurity there is no gumming up reducing performance or leading to rough running. Also new fuel into the tank. I left mine stored for 12 months before the rebuilt engine was even run in. I just gave the above a clean, replaced oil, charged battery (didnt even replace) and she started an run perfectly. You may wish to let idle for a while before riding to ensure the oil is mobilised throughout the engine before riding so no parts are dry/unlubed.

Pommy bloke was helping me with a 650T110 motor in 1986....he had a Norton under a sheet in his shed that had last seen the light of day 16years earlier, was asking him about it one day so we pulled it out of shed, flat tyres, cobwebs etc, still a splash of something in the tank, he tickled the carby, 3 prime kicks and boom she fired on the forth. True story.

He swears it had not been started for 16 years.

However, rubber seals, hoses etc leaked like a bitch once we started moving it so that may be a concern as time goes on.
