Do I need to remove the airbox on my 750 Katana to get to the battery?

Yes. Undo the clamp to the plenum chamber/front airbox, undo the two mounting bolts on the filter box and there you go.
 
Thanks Kiwialfa. I just looked up the manual and it is a bit vague.

Takes about 5 minutes. Seat off, 2 bolts at the back of the air cover to the frame and the clamp at the front, and you need to take out the air filter so that is another screw to take the top off the box. Of course that is once you take off the side covers and the tank/seat mount which is another 6 bolts (assuming it is on there - mine was missing for a long time, not sure how the seat stayed on to be honest). Reassembly is the reverse (good on you Haynes!!!!) Last time I did it I wired in a plug to charge the battery so I didn't have to keep doing it to put the charger on.

Yes, remeber as a frustrated 18yr old having to get a jump start regularly on cold morning near Ipswich, ran two wires from battery up along inner rear guard and as two bolts mounted in the plastic. Will be doing a better install this time, but well worth the consideration as it is a BITCH to just get to the battery when you in a hurry for work!
 
Never had to do that one. Rotate it 90 degrees as you lift it and comes out no probs in my humble experience
 
I thought I would have to remove the seat catch to get to the battery and I was right.

It really is a silly system but there is no choice.

Seat catch, now you've gone too far!

But yes, there is a bit involved. On another post there was a kit for connecting and changing.
Will see if I can find it again but at this time of night looking through tired Bourbon goggles!
