Just wondering if anyone happens to have some ABS or similar plastic sheet lying about? I want to make a more compact battery cover for the wee beasty and I figure some plastic I can heat and bend (and glue) and strap around the battery would be perfect.

Either that or if anyone knows somewhere locally I can get it that would be grand as well... I can only seem to find wholesalers so far.

...Pete, I don't have any, but if you contacted the wholesalers they would tell you who you could purchase their product from.

Dotmar should be able to help you out - otherwise there's the plastics guy in behind Al's Bikes and Bits at Springwood - he can do the folding etc for you too.

Cheers guys, I found some hobby places with ABS this morning but the prices made me go

Might check out the PVC at Bunnings or eat a tub full of ice cream and cut the container up...

E-Plas is the other joint I was thinking of.

I made a dodgy battery cover years ago from a A4 sized clear plastic sheet display stand thing from officeworks - crappy acrylic that's really easy to crack, but it was cheap and did the job.

I still have some smoky clear acrylic perspex here from making my flyscreen but I figured it would be way too brittle for this which is why I thought ABS could be the go.

I was talking to a guy at work yesterday who does RC submarines and he was also saying to check Bunnings as they have a big sheet of thicker ABS there for a reasonable price. He buys thin stuff from hobby shops and says it is horrendously expensive... I'll try to get there this weekend and see what they have to offer.
