An interesting experience with a mobile mechanic

Had one of these mobile dudes come and look at one of the Eurotrash bikes yesterday. Didn't solve the problem but left me with a ruined battery, two burnt out starter solenoids, a bike leaking petrol everywhere and a fire that fortunately didn't cause any damage. Caveat Emptor as they say.......

..I'm busy keeping a couple of bikes running (and there all the same) let alone a couple of hundred different puppies...no wonder you've got no skin on your knuckles...you should have a serious alcohol or drug problem buy now!!!

Jesus. What was he trying to fix?

With all those bikes, he can't afford a drug problem!

Ah ha - now I realise why all the negative posts today - was going to reply to the last I read asking if you had a bad day. I see it all now.....

hahahahahahaha, with 73 bikes Paul can't afford drugs or alcohol.

Jeez, what was he trying to do????

Tell me of the problem with it, I may be able to help since I also have some euro collectible in my shed (I've finally got a starting battery for it now...).

What was he testing for?
Have you sorted the problem?

I'll ignore Glen and his rumour mongering.
No problem not sorted, but I have stocked up on Yamaha starter solenoids! It's gone to the back of the shed - I need to find someone who knows about early Aprilia's in Brisbane. Anybody have any suggestions?

Tony Armstrong's Dyno cowboys BLUE UP a mates sons 250 years ago....probably 12/15 years, come to think of it....

What's the problem?

That is the million dollar question my friend. The story so far - bought it from a bike shop at Brendale. Picked it up started first hit of the button. Rode it home including a stop for petrol. Again started each time on the button. Parked it up in the garage for 2 days - went to start it, would not fire. Will kick over and I get a stutter at the beginning but then just turns and will not fire. Has been like that ever since. Battery was fully charged......

Has spark and you can hear the fuel pump whirring away at start. However I guess that is why it may kick initially then not run cause it's not continuing to function maybe. I'll give that a go - thanks for the tip. Strangely enough my learned mobile colleague didn't look at this. Me, I've got no idea!!

General consensus seems to be start it with no throttle applied, and the fast idle lever at max - they flood out otherwise. what a pain!

There's also a known problem with a length of fuel line internal to the tank failing - Gates submersible hose is the fix here - depending on size and how much you need, I have some in a cupboard from doing the same job on my old Alfa 164.

Thanks - its starting to remind me of the old Maserati's I used to play with. Potentiometers, relays, diodes aaaaahhhh. I have established a plan of attack

1. Check for any loose wires and hoses after my recent visitor
2. Check the fall over sensor
3. Check the fuel pump relay
4. Check the throttle position potentiometer.
5. Check the fuel pressure regulator
6. Check the intake pressure sensor
7. I'll check the internal hose for leaks as suggested

And if this doesn't work I'll burn the f*cker!!

Forgot about that - mate of mine just bought a 222 4V - one of 3 in the country. It of course isn't making boost properly. lol.

What colour., if it's black with a grey interior I've probably driven it too? Don't tell him that there are actually more than 3 (I've seen at least 4.....). I used to have a 222SR (auto version), the last one imported, came in with x2 222 4V. The old importer used to love the folk lore around the cars cause he sold so few new ones, he made all his money recycling the second hand ones so it was always in his interest to perpetuate the rarity myth!!! Anyway awesome car when they work.....
