An amazing story.

The following story is absolutely true and not a word of a lie.
Now I can only HOPE/PRAY it will come to fruition.

I was down at the Gold Coast this weekend playing golf with mates.
Most of them I only see once a year for this event.

The talk turned to motorcycles and 1 of them asked me what I owned.
Kawasaki's and a Suzuki Katana I replied.

"Oh he he...I have an 82 1100 Katana with 900k's on the clock".

As you could imagine my eyes lit up with excitement.
Where did get that I asked?

"Well back in 82 when was I working on trawlers up north a bloke on the dock had this bike he was desperately trying to sell for he needed the cash urgently".

My mate knowing nothing about bikes offered him $1500 which the owner accepted.

Where is it now I asked.
"In my farthers shed under a tarp he replied...yer he takes the cover off now an again and starts it up...it even has the original battery installed".

Obviously you all know what my next question was.....Do you want to sell it?

"NO he said...I'll give it to you,it's of no use to me and I don't have a bike license...but you'll probably have to change the tyres as there a bit hard".

You've got to be joking I said...with my throat falling through my arse.

"No fair dinkum he said I'll give it to you...I'll just asked my father and will let you know later this week".

Now all I have to do is wait patiently for his reply.
Please please please let this happen!!!

How do you like them bananas?

That would have to be the "Shed Find" of the century ( the last one and this one )!
Hope it all comes to fruition for you.
You'll have to post some picks when you get it.

Best of luck, but did you let him beat you at golf?

Stuart

You've just got to hope he actually knows what a Katana is now. But having said that, a free anything can't be scoffed at.

Good luck.

Showed him a pic of mine....yep that's it he said.

I'm only hoping others in the family don't get involved that might know it's true value.

Bloody hell what a score if it comes through, can't help but wonder if it might be a WW, I'm sure there are a lot of gentlemen on this site who won't tell you what they really think or call you funny names
good luck

Cheers
Max

Well Max I have no trouble saying what I think.
Dave I am cut, what a way to treat your best mate ever,

a) No golf invite!
b) Wheres my beer.
c) When he said "I`ll give it to you", you were supposed to say " oh I dont want it, but I know this bloke John who might give you a slab for it.

Bananas Indeed,

John

Sorry oh Dark one...didn't know you played golf...;)

"When he said "I`ll give it to you"....I offered him 5k...generous of me eh?
Can you imagine the true value of this bike with 900k's on the clock requiring no restoration whatsoever?

Max..cast wheels were mentioned along with a 2 tone velour seat.

Don't suppose you might put a custom covered seat on it Dave...I know someone who would be most interested in the original one ;)

I have a feeling that this story may go down in Katana folklore, .......eg SoO 2034 ... I was there when this guy I know......etc etc :)

Hey Eric, how did you know I was looking for a velour seat:-D and I think your right about the stories around the camp fire,
Hope it works out Dave be interesting to know the vin....

Cheers
Max

I certainly hope that's the case Eric.
Didn't want to mention this till it came off....but hey, couldn't help myself.

I'm not a religious man...and may look a little stupid kneeling at the end of my bed with my hands clasped together in prayer...;)

That is crazy luck.
What I'm amazed at is that in 30 years, no one knew about the bike and it just sat there getting a start now and again.
You can only hope it's been stored semi well.

Ok, I'm with John... that's all I'm saying

Except... you're a lucky bastard Dave, good score if it all works out :D

I'm just a little...

You never know whats around the corner and hope you have seen the photos in this forum under Off Topic.
