85 Kat?

Could someone tell me what year the last Katana 1100 was sold in Oz. I thought 1984 but there seems to the odd bike advertised as 1985? Also, how do you tell a 'grey' import. Has anyone an opinion on the Katana for sale on Ebay. It comes from St Ives.

Australian delivered brand new GSX1100SE Kats were still being sold in Australia in 1986. They are very rare, but there are SE 1100 Kats with a VIN plate date for 1986. There are more Australian delivered 1985 plated SE Kats around than the 1986 but they are exactly the same machines in spec and paint scheme. All Australian delivered Kats were fitted with an ADR plate. For Australian delivered Kats the VIN on the plate is the same as the frame number stamped in the steering stem next to the ADR plate.

Assume you mean a pure bred Kat as apogee to the 85'/86' pop-up.
I'm just down road from St Ives so can take a look if you are interested.
